Tinted Plexi Source?

I picked mine up at Amazon last summer.

First piece arrived with a 3x4" diagonal chunk broken off in the corner (as it's just shipped in a polywrap), but Amazon took it back (after refusing delivery per the FedEx delivery person who pointed it out) and sent a new one immediately before even receiving it back.

Back in July it only cost $39.xx for the piece but went up dramatically afterwards (check CamelCamelCamel.com for price history).

I bought a 48"x36" sheet and that yielded two large 18x21" ones I needed for entire bezel use, two 19" ones for bally midway insets under a bezel, and enough for three 13" ones.

(The feedback on it is not from me but someone else that complained about broken sheets.. but luckily since it's Amazon they are great about it to get you a replacement. Everything is shipped with plasticized paper attached to it to protect from scratches as well.)

These are 65% gray tint... they do not shift the color like Bronze tint available at Lowes/Home Depot/Menards does. They hide burn in and block UV light from making the monitor glow, without causing the screen to look orange-tinted like the more available brozne.

Before ordering tinted plexi online, check your local area for a plastics/acrylics business.

I found such a place only a couple miles from my house. I walk in with measurements and/or a sample, and walk out with a brand new piece of custom cut plexi 15 minutes later.

I think that I paid $40 for a new piece of tinted plexi for my Lunar Lander.

Professional plastics will cut to size. Theres also eplastics. Both pretty good.

Yeah I got one for my Dragon's Lair 9 or 10 years ago from the local glass company. Yes, it was plexi.

Anyone have a preferred source for tinted monitor plexi?

Thanks

Home Depot. They call it "bronze" for some reason, but it's smoked/tinted. I bought a sheet that was something like 36" x 30". It's a little thinner than most arcade plexi (only .093" thick), but worked well for my Zaxxon project cab. I think it was around $25. I cut it to size with a knife and straight edge, then filed and sanded as needed.

Thanks ya'll! I'm gonna try Solter first since they are only a few miles away.

Also, has anyone tried using a substantially darker plexi to hide screen burn and then turn up the brightness?

That's the reason I put it on my Zaxxon project - to hide the Champion Baseball burn-in (it was originally a Zaxxon but was Champion Baseball far longer than it was a Zaxxon, judging by the burn-in). The tinted plexi really helps with that.
