I was recently given a Time Pilot cab that I am starting restoration on, The one big question I have, this being my first restoration, Is there a specific kind of replacement glass i should use, The plexi on it now is scratched and cloudy.

I personally would use lexan,,,cost I a little more but its flexible and gets less scratched up over time...

Thanks, thats what I was thinking, And should it be clear or tinted? I"m not sure if the screen on it now is tinted, or just discolored from 30 years of UV.

My Time Pilot has a clear bezel, but I think this one is up to you. I go tinted plexi if the monitor has really bad burn.

Here's a link to the repro side art & kick art thread if you need it in the future: http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=204615

Jealous. That's my all time favorite game. Post pictures of your restore in process!

I've got a few pics so far, I'll post them, I've just started, today i actually just got to replacing both front and back locks, and 2 of the 4 joystick microswitches. I think next step will be to pull the CP off, sand it down, re-prime and add a new CPO & Plexi.

It may have to wait a bit until my wife lets me spend more money on it <grin>

I think you'll find that the plexi is lightly tinted. At least all the ones I've seen were. You could probably replace it with clear and nobody would notice the difference.

You're probably right. My garage is so dark, I hardly can tell. I can't wait until the side art is completed so mine can find its way into the game room.

Oh, BTW- Matt's got the high score save kit. You'll definitely want that!

yeah i saw the High Score save kit, It's on my list, Now that the 2 dead joystick microswitches are gone, and I can actually play it, It may be a while before i tear it apart again, Lol :)

Plus I just found someone locally getting rid of an old Vector Star Wars upright, that I really want, wonder if i can get $1200 for a kidney....

Plexi smoked if it has burn in, i personally like real glass, i take the originals down to the glass shop and have them cut it and edges smoothed out for $80.00 so nice having glass it just makes it look way more solid. But yeah lexan works awesome too.

I thought about having real glass cut, I think i'm going to go with lexan for now, At the moment i've just been having too much fun playing it to work on restoring it, lol
