so i got my parts all in for my $25 Time Pilot and decided to fix it up tonight.

Really just needed a CP rebuild...the original stuff was nasty and trashed...looked like someone had burned a lot of stuff with a zippo.

Anyway...I got a CPO here really cheap, like $10 DLVD...its a Willis which is fine...this is in a Challenger cab anyway...so I really dont care if it's Willis or OEM.

I put new buttons and a new stick in there...it's generic 8 way stick from jammaboards and it's doing about the same thing the old stick was doing...it doesnt really want to respond...i was able to play it but it was really hard to get the ship to turn in any direction...the buttons are working fine...i rewired everything very neatly and it does turn in the correct direction so its wired up correctly...it is just hard to get it to turn?

any suggestions? I'm going to get in the back of the cab tomorrow and unplug everything on the board and clean all the connections...figure that wont hurt anything and is a good place to start. Just curious if anyone has had this sort of problem...dont know if it is a common thing or what?

here is a pic :)

Can't really answer your question. Just wanted to say I'm jealous and good luck! Time Pilot is my favorite game of all time! Let me know if you ever want to sell it!

did you put the wood panel spacer in the joystick instead of the metal spacer?

metal panel, no spacer...just the way the stick came out of the box?

I can flip the panel up while its playing and and push the micro switches manually and it still doesnt respond correctly....so it must be something in the wiring or a connection somewhere that is not good...

Is it also intermittent/unreliable with registering coins? (using the coin switches, not a service switch)

The left/right switch signals share an LS253 with the coin1/coin2 signals (@D3 on the sound board).

i have not noticed that...will check it out when i clean it up. I did notice the right side coin switch wasnt working...had to flip the left side to add credits....there is a service switch in line...have not tried it yet.
