Im posting a pic, but my photography skills are shitty at best. There seems to be some rom issues on my newly acquired Time pilot board. There's text on the screen reading IMIM as you can see in the pic, there's random 5000s on the screen, the ship disappears and reappears as it wishes, and it doesn't face the same way you're shooting. What do you guys think? Is there an easy way to test the roms?

*Note...pc is being an ass...pic coming soon

There is an easy way to test the ROMs. I'll bring my adapter and EPROM burner to the arcade Sunday to see if we can figure anything out on this thing if you want.

I don't know how busy we'll be, but I should be able to spare a few minutes here and there (assuming Jason and Rob leave me with a WORKING change machine this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Hopefully it's just some dirty chips.

Please, post the pic anyways when you can.

Awesome. Cant do it this sunday though. Taking care of some business back home all weekend, also stripping that Centuri cab. The wood is in surprisingly good shape! no rot or swelling at all! The following weekend should good so i'll let you know.

Btw Scucci, every time I walk Game Galaxy, and I see that Defender not working, a little piece of me dies inside

I have the connectors there, I just need to get them put in the cabinet. FWIW... when I move the connectors off the pins a little, it'll work for about 3-4 days... so, you just have bad luck as far as when you come into the arcade. lol

The PS connectors are getting completely replaced, but the kit didn't come with the connectors for the ROM board, so I'll have to pull those out one by one and clean them. (shouldn't be too bad... just been lacking the time to do it).

After that, every connector in that cabinet is going to get a good cleaning, and some dielectric grease to keep the connections good for many more years.

If I could just get the monitor rejuved, she'd be a beauty. Sadly, no rejuvenator yet... the money I WAS saving to get one has gone towards a huge stack of NVRAMs for projects, eproms (same projects), and apparently a damnd Final Fantasy Chronicles game since I've been looking for a good one for a while.

But the good news is those NVRAMs will work with a Time Pilot hi-score saver kit. So, if you're planning on keeping the board, I can slap one of those on there for you when I have the EPROM burner with me.

After Sunday, get in contact with me because I'll have to spend a couple of days next week in storage getting the last couple of machines ready to be moved into the arcade (N.A.R.C. especially)... and my Grandmother will be in town, and as much as I LOVE being treated like an 8 year old, I'll be doing whatever I can to make sure I'm out of the house as much as possible.

Family time is good in small doses. No doubt that Narc needs some tlc. So does that Battlezone! I wanna play that game so bad. I don't plan on keeping that TP. I was gonna convert that cab to a phoenix, but a local guy has a pretty decent dedicated Phoenix he wants to sell me. If the price is right, i'll buy that and turn the TP to a pleiades like I originally intended. If those high score saves would work on those boards I'd be down for sure!

I'll have to look them up and see what RAM is on those boards.

I'll also have to compare the codes for the games that already have hacked HSS roms and see what's going on with them... I believe it's just a matter of telling the games not to erase the RAM on startup... not sure. I'll check.

And that BattleZone might not ever end up in the arcade... IF I can't get it home, I'll have to see if I can drag it into the back room (the one that's blocked behind the wall where Paperboy is) and work on it in there. IF I get it up and going while it's still at the arcade... I might put it in there for a couple of months if Jason is alright with that while I work on finding a way to get it back to my house. ... It's going to be cramped because if that's the case, then the TMNT cabinet is going to end up in there too... and it's not a big room by any stretch of the imagination. But, it's not like I'm not used to being crowded out by machines since I have to walk through a maze of cabinets and parts just to get to bed at night and out of bed every morning.

I just REALLY hate the idea of running BZ up there on since it would be on for 12+ hours a day sometimes. TMNT I could run on there and just get a Simpson board for it while I work on getting the artwork and everything ready to sell it to my friend. Plus it would save me the trouble of moving it in my house (it was a nightmare just to get the Main Event cabinet in here... I couldn't imagine the hell it would be to get a 4 player cab like TMNT in here.).

Completely off topic, but it's your thread, so I don't think you'd mind. But I should be finishing up getting this place straightend up today... after I get the extra fish tank and stand out of here, I should be able to move everything around and get ALL the machines against a wall (instead of how they are now... I'll probably put up a video of the hell I have to put up with when I get all the parts cleaned up)... when you enter the room now, you run a gambit on arcade machines. BUT, after it's cleaned up, you're more than welcome to stop by and play anything you want. I don't have much right now, but a little Galaga, Ms. Pac, Robotron, Rush n Attack, Ice Cold Beer, and Golden Tee (uggggggggg lol), can go a long way. Heads up though, Robotron's ROM board cable is finally giving out on me... I have a replacement here so I can probably get that installed next week and she'll be rock solid (assuming the replacement cable is good). She plays fine with the cable is juuust right, but if you get carried away and jiggle the machine a little, you never know what's going to happen. But, it's free... so you can't really complain!

Anywho, I hope I can figure something out on the TimePilot board... if it's mostly playing then that's half the fight right there, but like Matt said, it's probably not just an eprom issue.

Thats probably true which sucks. but oh well. the main reason I wanna get it working is to give it a good home(and get some parts in the process!). If you want, and Jason don't mind, next time im at the 'cade ill start cleaning up the cab. Does it boot up at all? I like tinkering and rejuvenating. Plus, besides being dirty as hell, the cab looks good and the art seems flawless. As for the playing games at your house, im down for sure. I need practice on Robotron and Jays cab is killing my income! After watching Jason break a million I realized I got a long ways to go before I can compete with you dudes. I was proud I broke 100,000. Not bad for a newb. Btw, as for taking over the thread, i could care less! :D

Btw, I really wanna play some Rush n attack. I like it a lot on the NES, so I wanna give the arcade version a spin. Are rush n attacks conversions, or did the have dedicated cabs? I may turn my gremlin cab into one if I like it enough cuz side art, marquee, ect are cheap and I think the art would look cool on that cab

You should have about 160,000 at the end of the first brain level... sadly I need those lives from the brain levels to keep going. If I don't get good brain levels (most or all of the humans saved), I stand next to no chance of breaking 1mil... sucks, but true.

That BZ will have a good home... here. lol I'd been trying to get that guy to sell it to me for a loooong time. He finally caved in and sold it. The good thing is whatever is wrong with it (board, monitor... no idea) is supposed to be a minor issue. We'll see about that. I really hope I can get her up and going fairly easily... because between that and the Baby Pac, I've got some serious "FU" projects going and that's not even including my shit at home. I do need to get up there and clean BZ out, but before you start cleaning it I need to get some reference pictures, so please hold off on that. And after I get the pictures, I'll probably bring some glove with me and a few rolls of paper towels. When I get her up and going, it'll probably be at the arcade the way my transportation issues are panning out. But when I get it fixed, I promise I won't be taking it anywhere until you get some games in on her. If the monitors weren't so expensive, I'd have no issue with running her at the arcade full time (if Jason allowed it). But with the cost of monitors, I can't afford anymore burn-in than it already has.

I'm already sure that the monitor is going to need to be rebuilt... just because the game hasn't been running for some 15 years doesn't mean the caps are going to be in good shape... so that's one issue right there I can call right off the bat... that and probably transistors. The board set... if they play blind or at all... I'll be supper happy. I don't even want to apply power to it until I get everything cleaned, sorted, and I make sure the power supply isn't going to be fry'ng anything.

So far the only thing we've got from that guy that's worked right "out of the box" would be the Tutankahm. Pretty much everything else has been a headache. Fried power supplies, monitors needing repair and caps, controls in ROUGH shape (BattleZone for example), etc etc.

So I don't hold out much hope for BZ being one of those "Hey, a bad fuse! Look it works!" scenarios.

More than likely not,but maybe the fix will go smoothly regardless. If you need to get her home, let me know and I can give you a hand with that. I got a truck after all! Btw, that guy that has that phoenix I may buy said he has a few williams cabs that are either Joust or Robotron!! They are painted black, but he only wants 25 bucks a piece. If there's no rot, i may just have me a Robo upright! WOOHOO! It would be a project thats for sure, and the wood HAS to be solid b4 I'd buy it, but on the upside, repo parts for Robo are reasonably priced. Finding a board may be difficult tho unless I go the JROK route, and based on everyones love for the Jrok multi williams, I wont be disapointed.

I've tried getting a hold on JROK to buy a board off of him, but no response so far. So, good luck with that. I'll keep try'ng when I get my extra money built back up. The only parts you might have an issue with finding for Robotron, are reasonibly priced 4" 8-way Red Ball Top Wico leafs. I had to settle for what I could find at the time and went with 4" light blue 8-way leafs. They won't look too bad with the Robotron CPOs and I don't mind having them on there while I try to hunt down some reds later on. I'm also trying to figure out if there's anyway to use my 49-way wico (for Sinistar) with the other games... I really hope that's an option.

its a conversion, and is somewhat different than the NES version. i got one thats getting a ton of love lately, i almost have the game beat and am going crazy trying to make it through the last level!

That's where I am... they just start swarming too fast and the fucking Russian Ninjas (the guys in white that jump kick you)... uggg.

It deserves all the love it gets... while it's not as difficult a game as say, Ghosts n Goblins, it's still pretty challenging. Can't wait to get the Hi-Score kit put on this one... I start racking up some really good scores on that thing towards the end, and I lose them every time.

yeah, its frustrating. thats one nice thing about MAME, anyways.

i have never used a save state on MAME. dont even have a keyboard hooked up unless im working on it.
