My last grail that I haven't managed to get my hands on yet. Curious if this game was a kit game or if it actually had a dedicated version? If it did have a dedicated version can I get a picture of the artwork/bezel?

Thanks!

Come on dudes - can we dispense with the use of 'grail' already? Time Pilot '84 - a _grail_?

Heh... I dunno about that "grail" either. The word is thrown around very loosely in here.

To me a grail would be something i've been seeking for a long time, never see them around and almost never pop up anywhere. For example Reactor, Journey, Kosmik Krooz'r, Blaster, Electric Yo Yo, Splat, Inferno, Quantum, etc.

Lots of people also confuse these games as being "great" games. Which normally isnt the case :)

Btw. I do like both Time Pilot and Time Pilot '84

a dedicated TP '84 would certainly be a grail for some of us. only rumors that one might exist, somewhere in the deep, dark, dusty chasm of an operator's warehouse in a midwestern state, buried under a stack of old Pac rear doors and empty GO7 frames...

Grail to me means any game that is highly sought after personally. I am not looking for a computer space or dragons lair but realize some ppl desire those. I want a nice arkanoid, a tron, a spy hunter - those are my grails, nobody else's. Grailness is in the eye of the beholder.

A few facts on this thread.

1) I am 42 - Spanks is just a bit over half my age by a few years. The guy is younger than average on here, so Pac Man, Defender, and Joust are just words to him (since those likely got converted to Time Pilot 84's or Street Fighters by the time he could reach the sticks).
2) TP 84 (aside from the unfortunate similarity to the acronym for toilet paper) is in my opinion a fine game although I prefer Time Pilot and Gyruss. I would LOVE to have a Time Pilot 84 - meaning I probably won't get one since Spanks is aggressive in collecting, and has no dependents. Me, I run the frikkin' Brady Bunch house over here.

Grail is a highly sought after item - in this case, a game you always wanted to have in your collection. For me, Tempest (ironically, got this from Spanks, who said something like "I never really played it and don't really like it") was a top grail along with Space Duel and Star Wars. None of these appeal to Spanks.

Ring King on the other hand does absolutely nothing for me, yet it was high on Spanks' list.

Everyone's grail will vary. If you lined up a ST:TNG, Twilight Zone, Addam's Family, and Medival Madness pin and said I could have one for free, I'd pick the TNG pin.

THAT is crazy, but that is grail.

Good point. I had a nice Arkanoid at one point, and it got more play than the so-called classics. Bubble Bobble is highly attractive for kids and adults of all ages, and either strikes me as a game I'd call a "grail."

Grail - (sometimes initial capital letter) Informal. any greatly desired and sought-after objective; ultimate ideal or reward.

I can search CL now and find an Arkanoid :)

I know a LOT of guys who have tracked down games they really really want.

I only know a few who have tracked down their 'grail'.

Be thankful if a game you really really want ISN'T a grail.
