yep, you'll have to add an extra wire and button for the missiles for a Time Pilot cab. and you really can't play the game without being able to fire missiles.

it will, however, plug and play in a Scramble or other Konami-pinout cab with that extra button.

I heard that someone used the Player2 button as missiles for TP'84 thus not hacking up the control panel of their dedicated Time Pilot.

Who though... I cannot remember.

you could probably use the 2-player start button for the missile button as long as the game isn't set on free play, but the fire and missile buttons should be right next to each other or it's a really, stupid long reach and makes the game very difficult. on my cab it's about a 4 inch difference and it just doesn't work so i'm going to have to drill a new hole and plug the old one.

TP84 input mod EPROM

I wrote a software hack for TP84 several years ago that allows you to play the game in a Gyruss or Time Pilot cab without hacking the control panel. Here's the RGVAC post:

It requires just one EPROM swap. If anyone wants it I can send the burned EPROM for $10 shipped.

Parts are still available. A note that apparently this is a newer board version and won't work with the hack being discussed.

Would it be possible to snap a picture of the PCB.
Specifically the area at 5E, 6E 7E, 4E
Should be SN76489 chips, but maybe not.

Thanks

He's talking about the input mod EPROM, not the stereo sound hack.
The later rev board has 27128 OTP ROMs soldered to the board, so installing a score save kit to it would be a real hassle....
One of the program ROMs is socketed, so I probably could write another version of the input hack just for that board.

here is the pic I already had. I can take more if necessary.

Today I wrote a version of my input hack for this later board revision of TP84.

A pic of the rev 2 board is in this thread.
You just need to swap one ROM at position 8J (should be socketed already).
If anyone would like it I can send you a burned EPROM for $10 shipped.
