I got these time crisis 3 cabinets at auction, I got both to power up and both work properly. My problem is that i cant get them to link, i tried every cable and looked at every cable and nothing....both dongles are the same version and both i/o board light up green and red....the repeater pcb lights up red.

Now i saw on Player 1 side the 1394 cable was broken, so i replaced it with another 4 pin to 6 pin 1394 cable. Now player 1 side wont even show on the screen, the TV turns on and the PCB turns on but i get no image, second player side boots up fine but still link play is unavailable.

Once i disconnect the 1394 cable from player 1 it turns on fine. But when i reconnect it i get no image from player 1.

Now my question is how can i get both to link? i the linking cable the 1394 cable? both sides have the 1394 cable that lead to a pcb in the middle of the pedistal and its turns on, a red LED is on the board.

I dont recall if the link cable is firewire or mini USB on that game. I do know that the link cable runs from CPU to CPU though and is a total bitch to plug back in if your not looking at the connector. I wana say its something like mini USB, the sockets are on the front left of the CPU if your facing the DVD drive.

Also, player ID is determined by a jumper on the I/O board in the front of the game. There is a 4 pin connector that either has a connector on it and it has a jumper wire on it or there is no connector. If bother boards are MISSING this connector they will both try to be the same side and it will not work. If you can post a picture of the I/O board I can tell you where that connector should be but I cant tell you its pinout (in other words, which two pins need to be shorted together).

ok i do see the jumpers on the i/o and the dip switches...i checked the manual and no information regarding the function of them.

here is a big clear picture.

The cable at the bottom left on the 246 board is a mini firewire that goes to this repeater board that sits in between the 2 i/o boards...both system 246 board mini firewire cable go to this board and it gets power by a simple 12v/ground.

I swear that theres also supposed to be a cable that goes from one CPU to the other. I dont have any TC3's left on the route so I cant double check that for you.

The 4 pin connector on the lower right corner of the board is the one that determines link ID. Again, I dont recall what pins short together to make the game change its ID but I do know that with the connector removed it will be one of the two available selections (you can only have 2 link ID's on this game, 1 or 2). I want to say that shorting pins 2 and 3 will change the ID. You have to reboot for the change to take place. As far as I know the dip package doesn't do anything.

I found a manual for the game online. Its for a non domestic cab but the wiring should be the same. According to this manual that 4 pin connector not only determines ID but also runs down to the foot pedal. I dont recall that being the case but it also shows that shorting pin 4 to pin 2 will change that side to player 2.

And there is clearly an ieee1394 cable running from one CPU to the other.

The last two pages are the wiring diagram.

Looks to be the UK manual.

i see the 1394 cable going from one game board to another but i dont see that repeater pcb board on the UK version.

When my time crisis starts up 1st player(left side) has a red start up when it ask for co-op or solo and my 2nd player (right side) has the sky blue start up screen so im guessing they are set up properly on the game board settings but not connected right...

Im going to buy a mini 1394 cable to mini 1394 and see what the game does, but just to be sure, do these cables carry power? because i know USB carries 12v and connecting usb to usb can damage the unit your connecting it to.

Im going to check my pin settings on both my i/o board right now and see how they are set up.

ieee1394 also looks to be carrying voltage. I wonder if the Namco cable is something special (ie does not pass voltage from CPU to CPU).

I think that the 50" games had that repeater board because of distance from CPU to CPU. You might already be linked via that board.

You might need to call Namco for help. http://namcoamerica.com/contact.php

by the looks of it yea i have to agree with you, the repeater board is like an extension since its the DLX. Im going to see if by calling namco gets me anywhere because if i can just get the ieee1394 cable from Game board to game board ill just do it that way but i dont want to fry my boards ieee1394 by sending power to each other...

The repeater board had both ieee1394 cables from both game boards and only 1 side would display. i tried switching game board and still the same.

Also looked at the TC4 manual and its connected from game board to game board by an ethernet cord...

ok so i found out 4 pin ieee1394 cables do not carry power, only 6 and 9 pin do so i will go out to frys and buy a 4 pin to 4 pin cable and give that a shot.
