Well, these three are now ready to be put back together. All three completely stripped, sanded down, bondoed, sanded again, and finishes applied.

All black and Moon Patrol blue was sprayed in a booth at my buddies cabinet factory with a high end satin laquer paint (not cheap, but well worth the hard finish), and all white visible was done with p lam thin laminate.

All cabinets are near factory fresh minty goodness, and are ready for art application:

I caught myself looking at the architectural plans.
Reminds me of the days of being a draftsman.

You know, If you got rid of all those boxes of stuff in the background. You have a lot more room to store arcade machines. :)

Good work. I hope to see more post later on..

Did someone say boxes? Are they NOS boxes?

You totally ruined that Moon Patrol, you should have left it looking broken in and natural:

:p

That was my first plan.......:)

What did you do for the insides if they had black vinyl, if anything?

From what I could tell the insides were painted black, so I just sanded and painted black again.

LOL, I too was looking at the plans before I used them. That was all the paper my buddy had lying around for me to use.

Ya, those boxes in the background are taking up too much arcade room. :)

You're lucky that Atari side art is available (and from a good source). ;)

I think I know that guy, and I am pretty sure he already has my money in his wallet, and I his art :)

They are NOS, fully, never opened. But I am not opening them, as that will render them NOT NOS anymore.

Nice!

Pretty jealous over here. How long will it take for the minty cabs to develop that musty hot old wood game smell again? :D

Hopefully another 30+ years.....:?)) Granted there are no floods, or another other major house bustin natural disasters within that time.

Do I know that tempest cabinet?

Yes Sir, you do. In a week or two she will be all back together and as perdy as the day she walked off the assembly line. Can't wait.

Thank you for selling her to me. (damn that did not sound right, lol)

K, so made some progress. Tempest is almost complete, all art replaced, and all guts cleaned and re-installed minus the monitor and monitor bezel. The monitor is working and at home, while the cabinet is here at my work warehouse. There was a small issue with the monitor so I want to replace caps, bottle caps, and rework all the solder on the boards. Once thats done, then the game will be complete. The monitor bezel should be here soon from Joeycuda.

Battlezone, art is on, and repro step was added today. The repro step I am not sure who built it, but the alignment was all off, and the screws did not match the holes on the cabinet, so I had to add four new holes (which killed me inside, since the cabinet was fully restored), but in the end, you do not see the holes on the inside or outside, as washers cover the four new holes on the inside. I also used the spare extra pieces of the white vinyl from the side art to cover the sides of the step to match the game exactly. Hardest part was to get the mat on the step properly. I am not super happy with the way the mat turned out, but I think it looks ok still. Guts are going in tomorrow (they are all restored and ready to go, and then this one should be ready to play and bring home.

After these two are complete, comes Moon Patrol. I have to start with doing the sideart stencils, then everything else. Thankfully everything else is cleaned and restored just ready to go on.

For all these games, all the metal was fullly stripped and sent to powdercoating.

Restoring games properly and fully is a painstaking and expensive endeavor. But, the results are clearly worth it. Saving one game at a time :)

Cant wait to add these three to the arcade at home.

I'll post more as they get further along:

Wow, that Tempest came out nice! Get that spinner bushing kit installed.

I did, and the spinner spins amazingly smooth and well. Like butter.

Thank you for making them. They are perfect. Your kit is so thorough. I love that you added tools and detailed instructions. Top notch product. :)

Shes coming along nicely. I think EVERY collector needs to have a Tempest in their collection. Wildly fun game.

Thanks to the suggestion by ebyrdpython, I added the wheels under the step to avoid cracking the wood with a heavy person stepping on it. Worked out really well. I am 205 lbs, and stepped on it no problem without a crack, also did a few mini jumps on it to make sure. Solid.

Also added the speaker grill. Thanks to the suggestion of John's arcade, I purchased the correct black rivets to re-install the grill with correct black rivets of the correct size.
