Ok, I am asking for advice, thoughts, opinions on trading a 39-in-1 that I put together in a nice cab with a 21" LCD and have about $250 total invested (which isn't much). Someone is trying to trade a Time Crisis 2 for it. The TC2 is a 2 player model...according to the current owner, the 2nd monitor is "warping" a bit (he was told capping the monitor would fix it, but I have no idea) and the 1st player shoots great and the monitor is bright. Would you do the trade? Not sure why I am asking...maybe I am trying to talk myself out of it, who knows.

sounds like a no brainer, trade it up, well take that back a little, you have $250 invested in that machine, but how much can you actually get out of it

Show us pics of the 39-in-1. Of course, if it looks really well done, don't take to heart what I'm about to say, but......

A simple 39-in-1 is:
1. Outdated and obsolete
2. Generic
3. All over craigslist
4. Usually contains nothing of value beyond a $50 board and a LCD monitor.

In my opinion, the two monitors in that Time Crisis cabinet are more valuable than the parts in a 39-in-1.

Nah, I won't get offended...everyone has there opinion and I am asking for everyone to share theirs. I didn't really put a lot of work into the 39-in-1...and I agree they are all over the place and I could part out the TC2 for more money than the 39-in-1 could sell for. I will eventually build a MAME to replace the 39-in-1, but I am first working on building a small collection of dedicated games. Here is what I have so far...Tempest, 4 player Atari Football, Punch Out, 4 player Tecmo Bowl...and I guess the soon to be added TC2. LOL Thanks for the replies!!

Sure. If it were me the choice would be way easy. Multis get built by guys like us to trade or sell for good cash to buy GOOD games with. I'd trade in a heart beat, then cap the monitor and call it a day. My games are all in my garage, so storage of such a beast would be easier for me than for someone who runs their games in the house.

Yea, assuming you like the game and it's more or less working, I'd trade up to the TC2 in a heartbeat.

TC2 is a fun game. It's a large game but they can be separated.
I think it is a good trade if you have the room for it.

you might be thinking of the 50 inch, those might seperate, not the regualr 25/ 27 whatever inch iirc...

Just check to make sure everything's working, that is a very expensive game to fix... but if it's working, hell yeah trade that out. That's like a high ticket game.

Considering the 39-in-1 had the memory issue where it would randomly reset everything back to factory, this is a no-brainer, but I'd pull the LCD and stick a standard CRT in it first...

Well, I picked up the TC2 today...man it is big. The guy felt bad about the second monitor needing recapped so he threw in a non-working Street Fighter II CE. He figured I could either use it for parts on something else or fix it. I tested the board already and it works, but the monitor needs some love. TC2 is a really fun game!! Very happy that I made the trade...

If the other guy was a dealer/vendor/operator/whatever then he might have had a buyer lined up for that multi. However, I think you definetly came out on top of this deal. Cap kits are cheap and easy to install.

Way to go homie!
