Guys, I was thinking of getting a TMNT as my 2nd DMD game. I think the price in good. I really want a STTNG but I will have to wait until next year to afford one.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Fun game, basic rules and nice layout. I would worry only about the dmd going bad. New original can be costly, but iirc there is a led replacement.

Price better be outstanding because I firmly believe you'll have a tough time getting rid of it. I've seen several of those machines popup and they'll sit forever even at a low asking price. I wouldn't pay more than $700.

I go out of my way to find the good in any game. But quite honestly I feel this title is really a blah-tastic borefest.

Had a friend with one who couldn't wait to get rid of it. If you're a fan of TMNT, you'll probably enjoy it, otherwise...

Pretty garish color scheme, ugly (in my opinion) translight - it plays ok, and the sound/music is appropriate for the theme, but I also see them go fairly cheap.

I'd wait a year for a STTNG, easily. Much more depth, and a better investment.

Note that these use the 128 x 16 DMD, and not the 128 x 32 DMD - so the prices will vary (more expensive typically) from the 128 x 32 DMD's.

K's Arcade has a new plasma DMD for $325 - see: http://www.ksarcade.net/data-east-128x16-dmd-520-5042-00.html

Pinball Life has just the glass for $130 - MUCH cheaper, if you're comfortable swapping it yourself: http://www.pinballlife.com/index.php?p=product&id=890&parent=18

PinLED offers an LED version - see: http://www.pinled.de/pinledeng/html/produkte.php

~$285 I think, if I'm converting the currencies correctly; you may be able to order through Bay Area Amusements, although it's not listed on their site that I can find..

Hopefully no issues with the DMD if you end up going for it, but definitely good to be aware of the cost worst-case..

Definitely not a game I like, but if you're a fan, or grew up with it and would like it, go for it if you can get a good one at a good price - everybody has their own tastes..

most ugly and fun-less pin I ever saw
only pin ever where I had started a game and didn't finish it, I walked away after 2nd ball..

only get it when you really want it (maybe your kids will like it if you don't) and it's so cheap you can sell it without a huge loss

and don't try to compare it to sttng in any way
