So I've got a 19 in one PCB in my multi Jamma unit right now. I've been playing the shit out of Solomons Key. I can't get past the third level, but that's just because I'm half drunk. I played the hell out of this on the NES back in the late 80s. Anyone else remember this game?

I think I might have been too drunk in the late '80s to be any help currently.
I'll have to fire that one up once I get the mame-box back together here in the coming week.

Love this game, used to play it a ton with my sis when we were both much younger.
I've been looking for a board for quite some time but they rarely pop up for sale, may need to look into these 19-1 Jamma boards.

Solomon's Key on NES was awesome!
But it's been almost 40 years. All I can remember is the general hard ass puzzle/platforms and it had weird music.

Never played it in an arcade machine or
any other format though.

You have good taste, sir. I really like Solomon's Key. Puzzle games with action buttons make excellent arcade games (Pengo, Eyes, etc).

It's a shame there wasn't a dedicated upright. I've always thought it would be cool to build one. I did come across the below photos at one point which are promising, though the control panel on the cocktail screams conversion.

A local arcade buddy picked up a cocktail version a while back. His plan is to sell it . We weren't sure if they even made a dedicated version or if all conversions. I'll see if I can get some pics and post later today

So I installed the 19 in 1 PCB in my multi Jamma cabinet. I turned off all the games but ghosts n goblins and Solomons key. I find myself being drawn back to Solomon's key over and over again. I do play a game of GNG every now and then, but the sound is so bad on the multiboard for that game that it's tough. Solomon's key sounds perfect. So weird to me how they can get some of the sounds right on these Chinese boards, but some of them are so far off. There's something so cool and Nintendo-ish about the enemies in Solomon's Key. A lot of them remind me of cartoony versions of Metroid enemies. I'm so glad I decided to start playing this game again.

Love this game! There's a game called Zipang which is a Solomon's key clone on PC Engine that's decent.

Also, check out Fire 'n' Ice on the NES. I actually like it better than SK.

I just think it's so weird how the Japanese interpreted and mashed up so many different mythologies from so many different cultures in some of these games. You have a hat and cloak wearing hobbit named Dana wielding a magic wand, breaking blocks and dispatching enemies while searching the ancient temple of Solomon for a skeleton key and a Tinker Bell fairy. Story as old as time.

When I was in college we coined the term "Japan-weird" to describe things like that.

My buddy got back to me with pics. He's not on Klov but is interested in selling. He would like to get $1k. I figured I'd post here before making an actual FS post
Since Phet is OP , he's got first dibs. Game is located in North Jersey.
