Looking at a mint specimen tomorrow with 4 games. What price-point we talking here? I remember it back in the day playing Mario Tennis and getting headaches from the red screen. Any thoughts/ what to look out for? I think it would be a neat device to add to the collection!

My wife got me a nice one with Mario Tennis and Tetris several years ago. I play it occasionally but mainly it just sits on the bar and looks cool. Make sure it comes with the stand and that the material around where you look in is intact. If the unit is working and in good shape and comes with four working games I would probably go as high as $100 I guess, but not any higher.

Moved to console forum.

No idea on the price as I haven't looked at them in years. I picked one up at Wal-Mart or somewhere for about $20 when everywhere was trying to get rid of them. I've got a pretty good selection of games, though I'm missing several of the really good ones.

Games that I can recall that need to be recommended: Mario Clash (this REALLY needs to be rereleased...maybe on the 3DS?!), Nester's Funky Bowling (for reals, this this was cool), and Wario Land (some douche deleted my save game - so pissed). I also seem to recall Red Alarm being good, though I can't remember if I had it myself.

DogP is the VB master. Wonder if he'll pop his head in here...I haven't seen him in ages, it seems...though apparently he's still around, just not in this neck of the woods, I guess.

I think it's a very cool system, definitely a good addition to a console collection. Plus, if you're serious about it, there were only 27 games released in the US (IIRC). Adding Japan, they only had ~35 or so, so it's entirely possible to get a complete collection of all official products released.

EDIT: I just realized that I was way off on the games released, 14 in the US, 22 worldwide.

I used to have one. Was alot of fun. Red alert and vertical force were good. I always wanted to try telero boxing, but never got it. Id agree w/ the above poster that $100 seems fair. If it is in excellent shape, I might go up to $125. If everything has boxes and manuals and is mint, they might even squeeze $150 out of me.

I'm watching this, and it's a pretty fair review actually, some good games, some crap games, some poor design decisions.

James is always spot on when it comes to console reviews. You outta see his Sega CD and 32x reviews. Hilarious.

Thanks for the input guys. I did end up getting it this morning. All I can say is wow! I'm hooked on Red Alarm (that would have been a sweet cross-over to a vector game for sure!). I also have the included Mario Tennis, Wario Land, Telero Boxer as well. They all have the boxes manuals as well as the VB.
The woman whom I purchased this from has dragged it with her the last 15 years. She said it was bought for her nephew BITD and he never took it home. It was played a few times then put away. Box is in okay shape, must have been around some moisture since it looks a bit tattered. Game system does indeed look like new. I got it here in the 'cade and have been plying it on-and-off all day! I'll get some pictures later on tonight. Anywhere I can find the 9V adapter so I can not use batteries all the time? I'll have to look into other titles as well! I spent on the high-end but feel it is well worth it...

Funny how no one would pay that price back in the day, but now collectors will pay it at the drop of a hat. I love collecting crap :)

Really, I don't know that I'd pay that much for one unless it also had the handful of games I was looking for as well. If anyone sees Nester's Funky Bowling for a good price, let me know. When I looked last night, the prices were...way too high for me :)

I saw that one.And he did! I wouldn't ever own a VB,but if I HAD to I would certainly get it as cheap as freaking possible since it's a virtual piece of shit! Hah!

If I could find one for cheap (like $40 cheap) I'd probably buy it just so I can say I had it. Not sure if I'd ever play it that much, but... you know...

I paid $30 for mine brand new when they were clearing them out at Wal-Mart :D Of course, I also bought the AC adapter and six other games at $10 a pop, so the whole thing ended up running $100, but still, it was a damn good deal. I still have the boxes and all, in close to mint condition. I've got a Japanese copy of VTetris too. I've thought about picking up more games, but the ones that are actually worth playing are too expensive.

I've got:
Red Alarm
Teleroboxer
Wario Land
Golf
Mario's Tennis
Vertical Force
Panic Bomber
VTetris

For roughly $100 for brand new in boxed stuff, you made out like a bandit. Nice work.

FMonk, I think I have you beat. I got mine for $16.50 brand new at Target when they were clearing them out. Still have the price tag on the box, too. I'd just hit up KB Toys and check the $5 clearance bin and get all the games. I have everything mint in box, except for Nesters and Jack Bros. Still looking to find those two at a reasonable price to finish up the complete US collection.

Nice!

I'd like to get a complete US collection someday. I'm less interested in the Japanese games, but I wouldn't mind getting some of the better ones to play.

If I had known at the time that there were so few games, I would have bought them all as well. I remember when TRU had them all for <$10 a pop and I only got the ones I really wanted. That was before I played Nester's Bowling though :(

This stuff worth something now? I got 2 systems back when they were blowing them out and I think I have all the US games but jack bros(have the jap one so didnt see the need for the US when it didnt even have the ripper guy)
This stuff has been buried for over 6 years, but I remember also really liking panic bomber and the jap tetris.
