Heh guys. i have been lucky enough to play steve hertz' duramold blaster at his arcade partys and have been diggin' BLASTER more and more. i also have been playing it on the jrok board over at my buddy dave's house. loving this game...

a few quick questions....

-anyone know the numbers of BLASTER UPRIGHTS that were produced?

-anyone own a blaster upright or conversion?

-if building a kit BLASTER game..... what is the closest williams style cab to make the game look authentic? the cab shape looks a lil different than the normal stargate/ defender cab?

here is a pic of klover matt's ded blaster (drool, drool). chris

No idea on the answers to your questions, but I did play Blasters for the first time at the NW show (also my first time seeing a Duramold in person).

It was pretty fun, but I didn't play it too much so didn't make it very far in the game.

thats cool you got to play one @ the NW show. that joystick kicks ass too onthe blasters! im hoping there will be one @ CAX this year.

yeah sav.... i think your right on the shape of it (stargate / defender).

im remember noice was selling a blaster BEZEL recently. guessing the parts for this game are hard to come by. chris

Must Be hard to come by I sold the Bezel way to cheap as I got offers to my email I don't check very often of 100 + shipping and then 200 + shipping and the last guy wanted to know who I sold it too. I never emailed him back.

I have a Blaster but it's a Duramold. Great game though. I guess the Twin Galaxies record holder was there at the NW show. I got one tip from him: if you fly through the middle of the 4 Masterminds without shooting them, you get 5000 points each time.
I'd also be very interested in production #s for all Blaster cabinet styles.

Also, you don't see one for sale every day either:

wow, seems like alot of $$ for a blasters duramold... but it does have the best offer feature.

wondering if anyone owns or has seen a CONVERSION kit like these :)

That's a cool kit. I did not know they even made those.
Since the release date coincides with the arcade decline, there's got to be a few sitting in storage somewhere, right?

Hey, that's actually not my machine but the other woody i know about, i just stole the pic since i don't have any good ones of mine up :)

I own both a duramold and the woody. I don't think anyone knows the "real" production numbers, the duramolds are by far the most common, then the kits which are extremely rare, and the wooden cabinets are the test machines. I've seen a production guess of around 1500 and that doesn't seem out of line to me, you could probably go +/-500 pretty easy though. Blaster is the crash game for williams, so they produced the duramolds, stopped production, then came back as kits only. I have no clue what the production of the kits is but it's pretty low. Ive only ever seen one kit in a game, and it was in a stargate cabinet. The dedicated is a bit different from a SG (the bottom sides) but it's the closest.

I would advise against trying to piece one together. The joysticks are uncommon, and in high demand. I need 2 of them myself. :p

From info I have seen they made only around 500 duramolds, 50 wooden ones and 3 cockpits. Apparently the graphics hardware was very expensive at the time they made the game and on top of that it wasn't very popular so it didn't get much of a production run at all.

Damn, I had forgotten all about that POS. We all thought the art work was a joke when the Vid Kidz pulled the sheets off of that one. Needless to say, we weren't very popular for a while. Especially after one of the artists christened it the Arvark Ass Blaster (stare at the front art work for a while and you will see why).

The one in that picture is now in an awesome collection in the UK, so I doubt ours will be side by side anytime soon. It's the only other one I know of, for sure, and is one serial number lower then mine.

There are at least 3 cockpits in collectors hands, Jarvis's, one in Altanta and the one that sold on ebay to a guy in Seattle. I think the one in that picture is the one in Atlanta, the damage at the bottom is the same. The flip off picture was taken specifically for me, so I'm a little familiar with that machine :)

Do you mean this gun at the front? I wouldn't want it sneaking up behind me for sure. I would love to get a cockpit some day, but have to admit the art I love on the upright seems a little over the top on the cockpit.

No the abstract image on the side by the word Blaster reminded Connie of a stylized Aardvark with its a$$ in the air. I've tried to highlight it. Sorry for the low quality, all I have to work with on this work computer is MSPaint.
