i may have the opportunity to pick this one up soon....it's a pretty nice one....the expected wear near the cannon, but other than that pretty clean and pretty free from wear. it has been well maintained and it's fully working.

i've played the hell out of it virtually and i played this particular pin today for a few games. i like it. like the pirates theme (and the kids will too). the sounds/music don't bother me. i've heard some people say it will get boring because the rule set isn't that deep, but that's ok...people bitch about who dunnit's rule set too and that's probably my favorite pin of the ones i own.

so.....thoughts?

oh, and i should also add that i also have the opportunity to buy a revenge from mars for pretty cheap....it's working, but is gonna need monitor work before too much longer.

i know P2K's get a bad rap, but i actually kind of like it....but there's one on route less than 2 minutes from my house, so i could always play it if i wanted.

i can only afford one of the two.....wouldn't really mind having either.

BR isn't a bad game to play, with a few neat shots/ramps. My gripe about this game is that scoring is almost completely weighted to the center cannon shot, making most of the other shots you make (apart from setting up the cannon) relatively meaningless. If they cut the value of the cannon shots by 90%, it would be a balanced scoring game.

I'd take RFM before Black Rose any day of the week. Black Rose is fun on location, but it wears thin really quick once you master that cannon shot. Also, the flow gets interrupted A LOT in that game for the cannon and the DMD stuff. RFM is actually a really great flowing game, and the humor is excellent. Between the two, I'd say RFM is a keeper, Black Rose is a short term machine.

thanks, jar.

how "problematic" is RFM vs. a "normal" pin? i've heard horror stories. and, like i said, the monitor is gonna need some work before too much longer i'm afraid (other than that and a very finicky stop-post, it seems to be working well).

also, what are the chances of putting an LCD in that RFM rather than the monitor AND how difficult/expensive would it be???

I have owned both. Sold the BR within two weeks of having it. I have a large collection and it did not make the cut. I still have the RFM. What is cool with the RFM is you can get the SWEP1 playfield and swap out the game every now and then.

yeah....that's what i keep thinking about. i've heard the conversion kits run about $1K or so. is that accurate? and how hard is it to swap them out? i'm all about 2 pins in 1 cab. :)

and i'm a big star wars fan................even if lucas did poop all over the franchise with jar jar and jake lloyd. ;)

Used conversion kits used to be $400-500 before Nucore came out. With the release of Nucore the prices of conversion kits have gone up. The good thing about Nucore is that the price of prism cards have come back done. Prism cards were hitting about $800-1000 but now can be found for less than $300. I bought a NOS one on eBay a few months ago for less than $200. Swapping playfields are easy on PB2000, especially if you have two prism cards OR the new Nucore system. It takes me about 5 min to swap out the games.

thanks, hsa.

I'd still go with a 'regular' pin over the pin2k (RFM or SW). Why? I think the animation in pin2k is decent, and RFM (like AFM) has a good deal of humor. But the undersized pf's are relatively featureless and *boring* imo. 2 ramps, 2 orbits, and a central area that needs to be constantly pounded in almost every mode. Pretty much any SS/DMD pin (even those selling for well under $2k) has a much more interesting pf layout and would have more longevity than a pin2k.

You do know that the playfield on a Pin2k is about the same size as most playfields (only a couple of inches shorter) and bigger than anything before High Speed, right?

Hmmm sounds whole lot like its brother AFM :D

Anyways doesn;t matter what any of us chuckle heads think play and decide for yourself. My .o2 is RFM is much better than BR. BR is a mildly amusing game at best that would fair well in a large collection. In a small collection this game gets old waaaaayyy tooo quick.

RFM isn't on my top 10 list but as a casual player if there's a BR or an RFM side by side the RFM would get all the attention.
Pin2K's are really cool - although SW1 kind of sucks ass in comparison to RFM :p
