Well..............................
Let me say I have owned 4 Black Knight machines. I like Black Knight. There are many that do not, but there are ALOT who do.
I like it because it's fast, I lke the ramps, lots of drop targets, the damn loud bell (yes, a bell), the CLASSIC 80's williams sounds, cheesy speech, and quite frankly, it is the first real pinball I remember playing in an arcade, and because it was the first pinball machine I ever bought.
Many tire of the background music, and while I can understand that, it does not bother me at all. Many think it's too crowded up top, and there is no "flow". I can see that point as well, but again, I play to have fun, and I find the machine fun to play. Do I play it every day? No, but it gets alot of time on it.
Like I said, it may be the nostalgia for me, but I like it alot. If you don't overpay, there's always a market for resale, and there are repro fields out there now in case one that you get is thrashed (which they tend to be). I got lucky in that the last one I picked up (and still have) was pretty nice.
They can be tricky to keep running. The 40 pin connector can generate issues, but if that is replaced and the power supply board is rebuilt, they can be dependable. Mine works really now that EagleTG helped me out with the board work.
Feel free to ask me any questions you may have about the machine. As I said, there are parts available now; backglasses, playfields, plastics, etc, so it's better than it was. As for me, I have regretted every one I had sold, and now that I have a pretty nice original, it's not planning on going anywhere.
LONG LIVE BLACK KNIGHT!!!!!
