I've been kicking around the idea of doing a custom arcade machine for DOOM. Did cursory research and it would appear that some ops BITD made custom DOOM conversions cabs that were based on a time limit (
https://www.quora.com/Was-there-ever-a-Doom-II-arcade-machine?share=1). Very interested in the tech behind setting up a time limit on it but to be honest that sounds pretty lame to actually play, as doing anything more involved to keep it engaging would require changing DOOM's code (maybe it could be done in a Gauntlet style where 1 credit gives you XX amount of time, getting a key card or beating a level would give you more time for free? I'm sure anything's possible since the source code's out there.)
A DOOM II cabinet existed as a movie prop according to VAPS (

And it would appear that a QUAKE cabinet was prototyped (
https://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=9188), and this gives me an idea on the type of control scheme/cabinet design (for keyboard accessibility) I would want to go for.
The possibilities for a custom art package gets me seriously giddy just thinking about it. Full wrap side art would look fantastic, but I don't have the artistic/PS abilities to pull it off. I could always toy around with it though. A cardboard bezel with the intestines, spine, wall of faces texture or end of level background image would look sick.
Let me know if you think this is dumb or have any ideas of your own haha, this is nowhere in the immediate future, just an idea I had. I'll likely be using this as a journal of sorts to keep track of ideas I have, and upload progress images if/when I do start on this.
