Why does it always seem that when you meet someone who finds out about your hobby or work with arcade games, that they usually tend to have a story about some rare or desirable game that they had or knew about that ended up being given away or thrown in the trash - sometimes mere weeks before you find out about it? Like the operator who "just threw 20 cabs away last week" when you show up asking about project games.

Just yesterday I was at a customer's house (old guy) delivering a pin and checking out a very strange looking dedicated Lil Hustler cocktail (mine if I want it for my pool table room), and he starts telling me about a game he used to have called - Beastie Feastie:

Apparently this is a game that can be put on an original Pac-Man board. He gave the thing to the Two Bits guy, who promptly changed it back to Pac and threw the Beastie Feastie stuff away (years ago).

While the game is not a real desirable one, it's hardly ever seen and something I would keep just because of that.

What else has been dangled in front of you as a missed treasure?

As I've been searching for an exidy hard hat board or any part of a hard hat for that matter I have ran into at least 3 people who used to have the boards. One guy even had a proto. The guy who had the proto doesn't recall what he did with it. The other two folks had nonworking boards. One guy had two or three nonworking sets. Both of them just chucked the boards rather than even try to fix them or sell them. Hell I'd be happy with detailed pics of an original board.

I think Beastie Feastie / The Glob are both a lot of fun. Should've been included in that iCade multi board.

I kind of like the idea of having a mini playing those. Hmmm...

Yeah,I bought a Dig Dug on ebay about a year ago from a local seller. When I pick it up I asked if he had anymore and after I mentioned that he tells me this story that until just recently he was buying a bunch of games, classics as well as more recent ones,in all kinds of conditions from an old operator for next to nothing with the intention of repairing and reselling them as well as opening up an arcade repair business. He told me that neither ever happened and that the games were either sold for next to nothing, given away,or dumped.Damn it!!!
