So Monday I find a CL listing for a game I want, an 18 wheeler, for an unbelievable price, $150 and in working condition according to the post. The best part is it is in a small town 10 minutes away. I email the guy back and forth a couple of times trying to figure out when I can meet him. I have an errand to run after work I can't get out of and he says he is going out to eat but that I can call him after 8pm. I get home a little late and call him around 8:30. No answer. I email him letting him know I will call him in the morning. I figure maybe he went to bed because he had said we couldn't meet in the morning as he has to be at work at 4am. So I email and call several times throughout the day yesterday and no reply, no answer. Nothing so far today either.

I understand that the game is probably no longer for sale for whatever reason. What I don't understand is why the guy can't take 10 seconds to reply to an email or answer his phone and tell me so. Very frustrating. I plan on continuing to call him periodically until I get a hold of him just on principle.

Yeah, I saw that 18-wheeler. I also corresponded with the guy through email. He sent me a picture of the front from the side and it looked pretty beat. I had him send me a picture from the back and it too was pretty beat.

I decided to pass on it but I'll shoot him an email for you if you want? Sometimes seller's get kinda flighty. PM your info if you want me to try to proxy the sale for you.

For the price I didn't think it looked too bad. Here are the pics he sent me. I would be curious to see if you can even get a response out of him. The way he was getting back to me immediately several times on Monday and not at all now makes me think you won't be able to either.

I had this happen with a guy in Tennessee. Almost the same scenario. So, I *67'd him (didn't know that still worked) and he answered the very next call. I reintroduce myself, say I'm calling about the arcade games, and the bastard hangs up on me.

"I have an errand to run after work I can't get out of"
This was your problem.....
and I don't mean this in a bad way! ;)

This could only be the problem in the sense that if I hadn't had to do it I would have asked him for his address right then so I could immediately go to meet him. But my cousin is dying of cancer and another family member setup a benefit through Applebees where part of the proceeds went to him. So I told him this and that I just had to go through the togo thing and pick up dinner and run it home. After telling him this is when he gave me his number and said he should be home by 8pm from eating and to call him then. I really think he just found another buyer and is trying to avoid telling any interested buyers that it is sold. That, or he got hit by a bus.

First rule of arcade collecting... take the first opportunity to pick up a game because it'll be gone by the time you come around to the second...

Oh... and the guy isn't answering because he feels like a dick for selling it out from under you.

Yea, if you've got the time, go for it. Make him just say, 'Sorry it's already sold'. I can't stand people who just go dark like that. No reason (other than he's being a bozo) that he can't tell you it's gone - I always email everyone who contacted me when they don't get the item.

Was it a home or a cell number? Because if it was a cell, you can text him as well.

I still have that control panel for ya, still haven't found a box (haven't been looking super hard, i'll kick it back in gear if your still interested).

*i'd still love to get it out of my garage.

We have all had this experience.....Unfortunately its not yours until its in you car.

Believe me, I understand that. Luckily, everyone I have dealt with here has been very cool and seems to do business according to a certain code of ethics. I understand that in the wild that may be more of a rarity.

But I feel like, if you want to be a dick and sell it out from under me then be proud of being a dick. When I call just tell me "Sorry, I got a better offer and it's sold" or "Another guy showed up willing to take it right then so I sold it to him" or "My friend said he wanted it so I am giving it to him". Honestly, I wouldn't think you were a dick at all really. No agreement was made, I was just coming to look at it. If he had told me it was mine and then did this to me it would be a different story.

Oh well, I really don't have room for this monstrosity anyway. I just know the kids would love it. I would rather find the upright.:D

Seller should man up and admit he hosed you, but Frizz is repeating a golden rule of collecting.
You should sleep well, your heart is in the right place as you chose family first.
Another opportunity will present itself

damn. Makes me miss my king of route 66....

I feel your pain with the craigslist issues.

Nowadays you have to be ON IT like i will meet you NOW WITH CASH otherwise the people usually flake.
