Picked up a 1957 Star Baseball today from a local garage sale. I actually found a game under all the dust. Not working but power supply is at least giving me lights. Unfortunately, I have to go to Japan tomorrow so this will have to wait until I get back. That's sure to drive me crazy.

I posted over at KLOV too but pretty sure I can afford to offer a Free Friday on chocolate covered raisins found in the machine (first 100).

Nice find. I like the curved glass with the running man unit.

And I think I will pass on the "rasins". Good luck getting the smell out of the cabinet.

That looks really cool. Now I can't wait for you to get back from Japan so I can see some more pics. Hopefully a vid of it in action soon also.

Will do. Correction, this is 4 years older than originally posted. Probably the same amount of time until I'll have it done.

What would you recommend for the playfield ball trail? I doubt if I restore the playfield completely but would you recommend a mylar strip to stop further damage?

Are you sure there aren't any raisin makers still in there?

oh, so thats what those are. i found a bunch in a FISH TALES.
i thought they tasted a little dry, they sure washed down fast with some lemonade though. some got stuck in my teeth and needed a pick to get them out so i dont know if i would recommend them to everybody.

Well, it's been a while but I've almost finished the restoration.

- Cleaned, complete with raisinettes
- All steppers dis-assembled, cleaned and tuned
- Replaced 3 coils
- Sent Pitch motor to Steve at PBR for repair ($)
- tuned a million switches
- Replace a ton bulbs
- Stripped rails
- Sanded the hell out of the cabinet to remove the old paint
- Repainted w/ speckle to close as orginal I could
- Then went further and traced pictures from the web in PPT, maintained ratio, blew up to size, and printed on plotter.
- Then pieced together on posterboard for home made stencils
- Repainted entire cabinet with new graphics
- Sanded and re-painted legs
- Stained and glossed wood trim
- Replaced Lock
- Built new marquee holder
- Still need to get marquee printed/painted/etc.
- Replaced balls
- cleaned and waxed playfield
- Fixed bat to prevent rubbing on said playfield
- Replaced buttons
- Sealed backglass (7)
- Original Coin box rust cleaned

I'm left to the marquee and fine tuning. I'm really happy with it and the learning experience was terrific. Now on to the next. Anyone want to buy it? :)
