Called Neo XYX From some Indie dev.

Will sell for €399, so they're certainly trying to maintain the Neo-Geo spirit.

From the description it sounds like it's a vertical scrolling shooter with no option to adjust the aspect ratio for horizontal monitors, which seems odd considering Neo-Geo didn't have any vertically oriented games (correct me if I'm wrong). Not sure how people feel about rotating the monitor in their Neo cabs.

Also it's MVS instead of AES which is interesting.

Plus the cart evidently has USB support, so I'm not sure exactly how faithful to the original hardware it can really be.

that's horribly expensive. plus I don't see flipping the monitor for just one game but someone might like this in a one slot

Weird, XYX is the last 3 digits on my liscence plate. Cool to see it coming out, but I too think it's way over priced, and being a vertical game kills it.

I bet that small print run sells out in no time like the other MVS NG.DEV LE titles and watch it sell for even more money second hand after a couple of weeks .

Probably right, but why? It's an ok looking game I guess. Not really sure how the value can be justified. Keep in mind it's essentially an unlicensed game on glorified bootleg hardware.

Where does one draw the line between rare collectible and expensive cash in?

Yea I have a feeling of this as well. Big thing I see is it being a vertical game that could cause issues.

I mean the NG Dev team keeps making games so you figure they have to be selling well enough to justify it.

The article I read about it said it had both vertical and horizontal modes.

It's the OCD NG community. If you can make a small run of 20 carts that just run a "Hello World" program, there will be 50 people online wishing they could own it to complete their collection...and I totally sympathize.

Having to tate your monitor is just going to be seen as a hardcore badge of honor for some people...not so much a weird decision by the dev considering the platform.

Still, good games are good games. Hopefully this turns out well.

This +100

This is why I never got into the hardcore neo collecting scene.

In the light of AES cart prices lately this is actually cheap .
The game also appeals to the hardcore Arcade shmup community, the recently released CAVE DoDonpachi SaiDaiOuJou Arcade kit was not only a hit in Japanese Arcades but also sold in pretty good numbers to the community and we are talking about new $ 2950,- kits here .

game looks good but I can't justify $500 as I really want to play it but not hoard MVS carts. Vertical shooters are my thing too. I hate the fact that so many VS are so expensive.

Well if it's a vertical shooter, with a vertical monitor setup, why not just play it in a horizontal system and it becomes a horizontal shooter?

(yes, that is supposed to be a joke)

well... all it would take is rotating the switches in your joysticks, lol and it would work.

Looks a damn sight better than Gunlord. Maybe you could put a 19" vertical monitor into a dedicated MVS for it. 25" would require major surgery, they barely fit in as it is.
