The grommet is shot and I need to rebuild this 35 year old assembly anyway, but for the LIFE of me I can't figure out how to pop this shaft out.
Everything I've seen has a C/E clip holding the shaft in and either I'm blind or this doesn't have it.

I've also read that sometimes the grommet metal rusts onto the shaft and that's why it's damn near impossible to get it out, but
I'm not sure this is the case and I don't want to ruin the whole thing by applying too much force.

Thoughts, recommendations?

the eclip is gone. i would put a large punch on the bottom of the stick and hit it with a hammer if you cant get it out by pulling on it.

With the e-clip missing if that actuator is still on there it is either very dirty or possibly was glued on or both. When you remove it try not to damage the shaft of the stick. If it is somehow permanently attached you may need to cut it off. I think KLOV user vicshaf was 3D printing replacement plastic parts so you could check with him if you need them.

Thanks for the tips. I was finally able to get it out by tapping and twisting. I needed the confirmation I wasn't going to destroy the damn thing.

Now time to put it in an acid bath. I hope that's Coca Cola!
