The other day I started repainting my Joust and my two daughters took over and started painting for me. I love these girls.

That's cool. Gotta love it when your kids show interest in your hobbies. My son LOVES going on road trips to pick up games. It's great bonding time.

I wish my dad was cool like that lol. Whenever I mention anything arcade related to him he gets pissed off for some reason lol

My girls are 8 and 6, but the youngest has shown interest in electronics and the technical side of games. I'm the farthest thing from an expert, but it's cool to see. Unfortunately I don't have the space for full restores, but I can see that the more extensive the restoration, the more opportunity there is to help with various aspects, like painting.

My parents just recently got over my whole arcade thing - my mom (back in the 1980's) used to gripe any time I asked for a quarter to "throw away" on a video game. But they supported my computer and electronics obsessions and it paid off in the long run. My dad blew up almost every delicate electronic device in his house last week during the hurricane (backfeeding the generator) and since then I've been replacing and repairing power boards and wall warts. They haven't complained this past week once.

While I was typing this (at 7:38 AM) my wife walked in and said "I guess you gave him permission" and I said "what?"
She said our 8 year old son is in my office playing Donkey Kong on the MAME cab. I went down there and he's actually playing Crazy Kong - I walked in and he said "This is a LOT easier than Donkey Kong.":D:D

When I saw the original post I worried that the paint would not look right but your daughters are doing a terrific job! Nice looking cab!

Thats awesome that they not only have an interest in it, but actually want to help. My youngest keeps asking to work on things with me, but when I ask him to come help he always has some excuse to not do anything.

Is that your garage? Damn, you told me was big, but I didn't realize it was that big...
