I purchased a Centipede unit over the week that is doing this. The seller told me it was a board issue and suggested reseating the 'chips'. I did this to no avail. Has anyone seen this before? Is it a piece I can replace without buying a new board? I also noticed what looked like burn on the back side. I am new to this so any help would be much appreciated.

Hi!

Looks like somebody did a really *bad* soldering job replacing one of the IC's. Looks like there are some addressing problems with the playfield portion...

Any idea here the playfield portion is located or where I could look to find such info. I'm sorry, but I am wicked new to this.

Brian,

Thanks, that makes sense since sound is also absent. I guess I can just order one or two up from Mikes. Looks pretty straight forward.

Can't remember, but doesn't Centipede have two? Swap them and see if it changes...

Yep wickedbass had one just like that. Don't think he ever fixed it though..

Bad random number generator on the Pokey...

It's socketed, so you can just pull it and drop a new one in.

I keep a centipede board with a bad RNG but good sound around to swap in to make it centipede for dummies for when incompetent players visit....
