So you can animate little flybys of your gamerooms to show off to all your buddies when they come over.
Case in point: Richie Knucklez Arcade all the way out in Flemington, New Jersey. Way too far for alot of us West Coast guys to be able to make it out to. But a right of passage none-the-less for serious classic arcade gamers to visit. Ever been out there? No? Here, ya go. Take the tour now.

And for those KLOVers who frequent the place....how'd I do?

Great work, Goz!!

Nice job!

....Next you could add another element - start with google earth, then zoom in to location. Maybe there's a street view? Then your clip......

....Now I gotta start modeling up my garagecade!!

cool man!! i thought he had a multi exidy cab there?? i gues not

He changes his lineup more than the Yankees. I think he still has the exidy/ cheyenne cab, but it's over in the second location. This lineup reflects current status of August.

Nice! Did you really save each frame and stitch them together or is there some kickass program that will automate the process?

I've been wanting to do the very same thing with my gameroom but the idea of saving and stitching each frame was a little overwhelming.

That was AWESOME!!! How do you create the animated fly-bys like that?

In Google Sketchup, go to your 'view' tab. You'll see 'animation'. Just create the scene you want, then move your camera view to the next spot, "add scene" again, and so on. The program automatically will know how to get from camera view to camera view. Just be sure not to have huge gaps in distance and angles, it'll create instability in the camera views.

You can then preview your animation fly-by by hitting "play" under the tab. Fun stuff.

Very easy to do. Alot easier than building the models in fact. The animation you just watched has 50 different snapshots. The camera knows how best to rotate and move from position to position.

I just checked it out... AWESOME!

Now to find an AVI to GIF converter... that'll make creating animated avatars a lot less painful.

Now to figure out what free software I can use to add a sound track.

I'd say the only downside to this program is the exporting process. The AVI files that it turns the animations into are pretty low-res. When I watch the original version file on my Sketchup here, it looks pristine. You can read every detail (even read that it says Team Wiebe on the shirt next to the hot-sauce shelf). The only way you can get high res exporting is with the deluxe version of Sketchup. $400 is I beleive what they want. Meh...I'll stick with the free version thank you veddy much.

Very cool! I was going to say, it would be hard to tell by the machines, since it seems that he moves them around constantly, but the wall stuff seems spot on. I was always curious what the entire place looks like, Arcade Culture only shows the front of the store. Although the interview over the weekend took us to the back.

ArcadeMaze!

Yeah, no doubt. He's always swapping games to keep things fresh. I've been watching little clips here and there for the last 2 months trying to figure it all out.

Sweet just did a quick one through my layout. NICE feature. Thanks for the heads up Gozer!

Awesome. Post a youtube video of your gameroom tour with Sketchup. Post it here. I'd love to see actual walkthroughs of many arcades in this group.

They're sort of boring without music or something. Any suggestions for a free program that can add music?

The music I added was free stuff from Youtube. If you upload, you'll see a tab above your video that says"audioswap". Click it, then select from any genre style. You can narrow the search by clicking the box which only shows tracks that are the same length as yout film.
