Every time I see something I want or need to fix a piece of my game collection on ebay it is always this one particular person who has a nasty reputation here on KLOV.

"gameboardsoc1234" aka "Bill Burger"

Lets say an example a want...

First one I've seen on ebay, expensive piece of hardware, and the 2nd picture doesn't help to promote its functionality......background seems blank....

Or lets say an example of a need...

...my force feedback Drive BD is dead, but I hesitate buying an as is non tested anything from this guy after reading about him on the forums...

If you've ever looked at his other items on ebay - they are numerous! I think it's just a matter of the numbers. I too have hesitated to buy from his "untested" items. It's hard to resist, and I came back to an item just today. It's still available, and I really really want to buy, but I managed to talk myself out of it again.

I can't say anything bad, because I've not dealt with him. I am sympathetic to your on-going struggle.

I've never had a problem buying his as-is boards or tested broken boards since if they don't work, I just fix 'em.

Yes, he can be abrasive to deal with... but, he can also combine items to save on shipping if you ask nicely. Just be prepared to have items put in boxes without much packing in between them.

If you really need it, but don't want to feel bad about paying a lot for it...make an offer. I'm sure he'll reject it in a second because he seems to have a high opinion about himself and the junk he sells. That being said, if it sits there for a while, he might come to eventually accept your offer. If he advertises it as working, you know your machine works, and the. It doesn't work in your machine...that's what negative feedback is for. You won't get your money back, but at least you'll have the boards and I'm sure you can find someone here to repair them.

I'm still banned from his auctions. :D I bought an Omega Race board that was advertised as "acid damage free "and when it arrived it had acid damage. :) When I questioned him about it he got pissed and banned me. :dunno:

I have since bought one or two things from him(via an alternate account) but now I know what to expect.

He can be kind of cranky, but I have bought several items from him. Don't expect a lot of communication from him, actually don't expect any. The stuff will just show up. You may get an automated "your item has shipped" message but that is about it. I always assume the boards don't work (regardless of his descriptions, actually I do that with all the sh*t I buy on ebay :)) and that way I am plesently surprised if they do.

I think Richie just had a really bad experience with him where the board was advertised as "clean" and had a burn hole through it or something to that effect.

I would definitely ask for more pics of the VOOT running. The pic he shows indicates the video board is flaky. That's a problem that is prevalent on the M3 boards now that they are approaching 15 years of age. More and more are dying due to bad video boards. There's no fixing the video boards if the custom chips are bad. Thus, only way to fix that board would be to find a working Step 2.X video board to mate it to.

As for the drive board, its pretty much a 50/50. I bought a drive board from him for my Super GT that was tested working, and it showed up not working. He did refund my money, but the situation did little to instill confidence in his "working" items.

Well given I can't afford a $400 or more board set lol, that would be ridiculous anyways given he has no wiring harness to go along with it. I mean i got the first VO for $150 working with harness not too long ago. I just find it annoying for once a game that I would love to get since it's a rarity on ebay and somehow its way too expensive for just a board set and then its also being sold by an asshole.

I could understand the rarity of a working Model 3 system on ebay, but remember rarity has say on price really. Plus VOOT has a Naomi version as well.

Should have searched the name. A few weeks back I found a Bromley board that I wanted to pick up for my Quarter Mile game. The guy that had it >>>>>> gameboardsoc1234 <<<<<< had it up for $59 plus shipping or make an offer. Well I offered him what I thought was fair ($40 shipped) and he gave me some story about gas prices and how he has to pay to ship and that he blah, blah, blah. Well I told him that the price of gas has nothing to do with my offer and that he has had it listed for months and now when someone wants it..... it's gold. Here is the funny part, the same guy is the guy that has a manual that I am looking for and he has blocked me from any ebay offers or email. Oh well, don't sell your tore up manual. I will get it from someone.

I have bought a few boards from him with no issue! Personally, I have no issues with this seller.

I don't know if he has good stuff or not. I was just set back with an email basicly telling me that I shouldn't have offered him anything... I should have just hit BIN and been happy that he would sell it to me at all. All he would have had to do, is counter offer at something else and waited to hear back from me. Why have a MAO if you don't want anything lower then what you are asking. Heck the guy has a few things that I would look at, but since he blocked me from buying from him. OH well!

For whatever it is worth, I bought a beat up coin door from him recently and it was as described and shipped in a timely manner.

Surprised anyone dug this up since i took it off my subscription list, lucky I read general lol.

Really, I'm not knocking that it's impossible to have a cut and dry auction go by without a hitch. I was just making notice at two particular auctions that caught my eye. What really yanked my chain is that the guy was the only one on ebay who had what I needed, but that part was untested. When I happened to stumble across the threads about this guy here on KLOV I just pretty much said those two wouldn't really add up to a good time.

Untested Boards + Nasty Reputation & Attitude = "Stay Away this guy's shit isn't worth your time or money"

It's plain and simple. So really I'm just gauging everyone's response and experience they've had with this guy. Guess you could say I'm gossiping.......isn't that what General is for?

I simply love how he promotes boards as being "TESTED & WORKING", wants premium money for them, then offers NO RETURNS / NO REFUNDS. I can just see it... "Oh, that board was working when it left. Sorry, bucko. Auction clearly states No Refunds. Bye bye." Shady business. Buyer beware.

I'm thinking buyer beware. I've bought alot of stuff on Ebay lately no probelms. Got a coinbox assembly for $20.00, but $25 shipping. Got it, postage due, it was sent "media mail" I thought for sure I was f***ed, I reread his posting and he goes on,and on and on about what a bitch it is to drive to the post office etc, but lo and behold, he credits me for more then I had to fork out for the postage due.All worked out ok. I guess just assume a pcb is NFG and buy it cheap.

I recently bought a Silver Strike Bowling from him. He accepted my lower offer. I paid for the item on a Friday, he shipped it on Saturday, and the item arrived on Monday!! He charged me $34 shipping, it cost him over $50 to ship. Remember, Silver Strike bowling is a COMPUTER, it's a BIG thing, this GIANT box was shipped from California on a Saturday and arrived to me that following Monday - two days later! I was blown away by the service. And, the Silver Strike was perfect and works great.

Again, I have bought from him several times. I have ZERO ISSUES with this guy. I would buy from him again without hesitation.

I bought 2 guns "untested" from him almost a month back, zero issues, they actually both work, and the PCBs inside look brand new. Same deal as the last guy, he charged me $10 to ship the pair, paid out $12 to get it shipped. No complaints, but good to know that I should be wary about it.

What I do find odd is that he sent me two eBay messages asking for me to leave feedback as his ratio's getting low or something and eBay does something or other to him.
