Thinking of making a MiniCab for my kid...Looking for side art images

So I'm watching my kid getting alot of thrills out of one of those Jaxx joysticks, and I realize i'd rather have him on a dedicated machine than hoggin the TV. But, I can't put a full size cab where he would have it (not enough space and too much wife aggro).

I know others have made Mini Cabs and put this or other Mame stuff in them, but if I did that, it's gotta have class.

No solid black or white cabinet. I'm talking one of those beautiful Atari cabs, like Star Wars or Xevious. I considered Galaga or Centipede but the space ones were my favorites.

Any suggestions for which type of cab I should replicate? I'm making a small machine here, so no destroying of an original cab or using full size art on the side of it.

Any ideas where I can find a copy of Xevious side art I can download? or maybe Pole Position or Asteroids? etc etc?

The cab design will be decided by the overall scale you use.

The overall scale used should be determined by the height of your kid.

I chose to model my cab after a pacman style, because my daughter is only 2 and the curves of the cab would be much easier to cut and install t-molding into at that size. If I chose a defender style cab, the breaks and bends at the corners would have looked awkward and the t-molding would have looked awful.

As for the arts, it should reflect the game or games in it. If you're gonna do one of those multi-namco Jaxx plug and plays, then it would make sense to create art based on any one of those games.

My two cents.

I agree on that, if I go the jaxx route then I can chose from Pac Man, Pole Position, Xevious and Galaga, or Dig Dug.

Definetly recommend running a pac style cab with pacman arts. I couldn't imagine trying to make a mini Xevious or Pole Position.

A mini Xevious would be amazing. I wouldn't attempt it, but I can imagine what it would look like scaled down.

That thing would be the bomb. I would venture to guess it would cost as much as buying an entire Xevious cab though.

The cab you made sounds cool, where can I see pictures of it?

To be honest, out of the options I listed I like the Xevious artwork the best, then probably Pole Position. The kid likes cars and space ships so those would be good for the little boy.

I went to that site for the vectored artwork, they have the Xevious artwork but the large side art file won't download for some reason. GRRR.

It would probably be 'similar' to a Xevious cab, with the side art, marquee, and maybe one bezel and the cpo being close in design. Since it would probably have the Jaxx stuff in it, I'd only have 1 joystick and a couple of small buttons.

The miniCab I saw was like a 70% scale model of a normal size cab, this would be roughly the same size. Since I already have the TV and the Jaxx box all I need is the artwork, the rest is cutting wood and assembly.

For connecting the Jaxx use a real Joystick and buttons....
Here is a post where I did that If you need more details let me know

Although I changed my mind after finishing it and made it a 48-in-1 with a VGA monitor.
I originally had it planned with a 13"TV with the Jaxx, WII/Gamecube, and DVD player.
