Do it before you collect 20+ machines down there!!

Really I wish I had room someplace else to store them, but i'm just
going to have to juggle them around now as I am NOT hauling them
all out.. unless someone local has an Escalara?

I started finishing my basement a while back. Laid down the
dricore underlayment and thats where I stopped... dam addictive
arcade hobby!

So now I'm back in the groove...

Drilled weep holes in the blocks, Primed all the basement
walls this weekend, and cleaned up all the wiring/piping, etc.

Next up is installing the water powered backup sump
I bought during the last hurricane.

On the Looooong todo list..

Frame up a wall, Box in the sump area, box in the HVAC trunk,
Drywall work, electrical work, Do a drop ceiling, paint the
walls, lay down some laminate. And those of you who
were scared to go in my basement due to the creaking/groaning
steps will be happy to know I am replacing them with a new set!

Gonna be quite a while before I get to play my games again.
I left a pinball and my multicade up so the kids have something.

Mike - I would love to have pics of your process.

My wife and I finished ours 5 years ago, and it has flooded twice. That is a disheartening time, let me tell you. Lockily, the walls were okay.

I am starting the new floor soon. The sump pump will be addressed again as well.

It's fun moving stuff around, LOL. It adds to the project :)

Enjoy the journey, it is nice to look at it and see what you have done.

Your basement looks like my garage...to include the game selection. I am definitely thankful I have a place to store stuff while I work.

I could put them in the garage but I not hauing them all back up the
steps. After the first dozen went in.. I made a rule for myself. It only
goes in the basement if I am 100% happy with the cosmetic condition.
If I am going to restore it.. It stays in the garage until its done.
Prior to that I was hauling them in and out left and right.

Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to bang out the sump pump.
Plumbing with copper is not my strong suit. Requires a 3/4" water hookup.

So I got the water powered backup sump installed and a picked up a bunch
of lumber to start framing up the walls. I used those shark bite fittings.. so easy!
Of course it wasnt cheap but they worked great. I have zero luck soldering copper.

At least I'm now protected from flooding in the basement if a huge
storm hits and I dont have power.

What is a water powered sump pump? Please enlighten me.

Another unfinished basement arcade here too. I've had plans to move in the near future and even with my health setback, I'm still hoping that's the case. Finding a place with a walk in basement would be awesome. :)

I was going to say damn you guys for having basements as I really miss my old one but just remembered it is almost Christmas and I'm still wearing shorts and t-shirts. Also never have to scrape my windshield or unthaw locks or shovel....or......:D

....Also never have to scrape my windshield or unthaw locks or shovel....or......:D

I never have to scrape, I have a garage and a 4-wheel drive vehicle :D Heck, in my previous house, my garage was IN the basement....but that just takes up arcade space.

Can I throw out a pet peeve and not sound like I'm picking on you? No, its the internet and no amount of admission that its my pet peeve/flaw will keep it from sounding bad....

thaw - there is no unthaw.....unless you mean freeze.

I wouldn't say that's a bad thing it's a whole hell of a lot harder to locate the games than it is building materials. Your just going to have to figure out a way to work around them.:D
