Thinking of Building an Upright Arkanoid

I really like Arkanoid, it is a fun game.

But it was kind of a harbinger of doom, it came out right when all the classic arcades games were dying off.

Hey guys,

I'm going to build essentially what Phet was going to build. I have found all the art I need but the Arkanoid monitor bezel that's pictured in this thread. Unfortunately for me Phets high resolution file for the ark bezel was lost in an unfortunate drop box accident. I'm hoping one of you guys was able to grab the high resolution version so that I can have it printed up for my 1st build. Thanks guys.

Arkanoid is a blast, my brothers favorite arcade game. I bought a couple about a year ago, an upright in a gremlin cab and a midway cocktail convention. Kept the upright and turned the cocktail into a pacman 60-1 w a switcher and arkanoid wired to the spinner direct. Works great and gave to my brother. I kept the upright. Love the frogger cab, hard to beat wood grain.

Wow we've gotten a bunch of love for Arkanoid. So nobody has a High res copy of the monitor bezel Phet made? The picture of the bezel in this thread is 96 DPI. I was reading that in order to get a good print you need at least 240 to 300 DPI for it to look good. Can anyone enhance the photo in the thread of the bezel? I have no idea how to change artwork files. I would pay if somebody had the time to do this. Please someone let us all know if there is a High res file out there. Or if you are willing to help the group of Arkanoid lovers out that would be awesome too!

i love my Arkanoid.

mine is in a converted Gyruss cab.

with a home made adapter plate for the spinner i did not damage the original CP in any way so it could be converted back if i wanted another Gyruss.

no pics of the cab ATM but here is my level setup.

i can play my custom PCB, regular Arkanoid, Tournament and Revenge of Doh in the same cab.
it was wired JAMMA with a JAMMA adapter that i switch around.

Well I guess I can't think of a better excuse to learn Inkscape and try to recreate this. I might even try the marquee too. Some of the logos and instructions are already on the vectorlib site.

As far as the CPO I liked it when I first saw it, but actually looks a little busy for my tastes. I'm going to see if I can figure something else out for that one.

How about this idea for side art, instead of generic RomStar? Looks like it was the box art for some home release, but if it were cleaned up and vectorized it would be pretty awesome...

I tried messing with Inkscape to no avail. Its over my head. This is a bummer as the monitor bezel is the last piece of artwork I need for my Arkanoid multi build. Like I said before I don't mind kicking down some cash if a fellow KLOV'r could get us a useable over 300 DPI monitor bezel the appropriate size to have printed out. Thanks guys

Ok guys I was able to get my hands on a higher resolution Arkanoid monitor bezel file. I got the files from a guy on the Hyperspin MAME art forums. Hopefully one of you computer whizzes can look it over and see if it will work for us. I'll post it here when I get home from work. The pic pulled from this thread was less than a 100kb. The file the guy sent me is almost 8Mb. Does that sound right for a high resolution monitor bezel file? Anyway will post soon. Until then.

This cracks me up every time I read it..

It's like when someone bumps a several year old thread - "hey, you still got this for sale?"

That said, a dedicated Arkanoid would be neat.
