Thinking of building a cheap countertop 60-in-1 cab.....any advice?

I own a Magic Sword and an S.C.I. cab, but really want a small, countertop cab to round out my current collection. At first I was hoping for a countertop Playchoice 10, but the prices for those are insane, and I figured the heck with it, I can build a countertop MAME cab. But after further considerations, I'd rather have something a bit more authentic than just a MAME cab, I've built and sold a fullsize one before anyway. So I figure.....why not a JAMMA multicab? I'll fully admit, the main reason behind this is so I can pick up some JAMMA PCBs and have them shipped a lot cheaper than finding the cabs locally (not a lot of options where I live, I pick up what I can when I find em cheap though). Going with a blue and black theme.

So......shopping list!

Plywood - Have it
19 inch Monitor - Have it
60 in 1 PCB - http://www.hollandcomputers.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=5986
MultiJAMMA board - http://www.jammaboards.com/store/2-...3ff68f529742=c466f32597016fd58c8076781965fe02
JAMMA Harness - http://www.happcontrols.com/powersupplies/80510000.htm
Power Supply - http://www.happcontrols.com/powersupplies/80006400.htm
T-Molding - http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=75&products_id=220
Buttons - http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=73&products_id=349
P1 button - http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=73&products_id=241
P2 button - http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=73&products_id=333
Joysticks - http://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=288
Coin mech - http://www.happcontrols.com/coindoors/40002300p.htm

So....that should be it for the basic parts. Only other real additions needed after buying all this is paint, a speaker, and some decals if I am thinking right. Anything I am forgetting Any advice from anyone who has been down this road before?

EDIT: Whoops, didn't mean to post this in the monitor forum, but in the forum above it.

You mean something like this? Except for the 19" monitor and coin mechs. Mine is for home use. Kids like to play this over any other. You could always use a LCD monitor w/ a cga converter. Countertop is nice, but w/ a 19" monitor it's going to be heavy. But if you do go that route, the monitor will need an isolation transformer. Plus in a small cab like that you may want to consider a shielded speaker.

jam

why would you need the multi jamma pcb?

Yep, something a lot like that. I got a few different design ideas, like using one of those LCD pictureframes in the marquee to scroll thru all the original marquees of games on the 60 in 1 board, and either mounting the slimline coin mech either beside the monitor or up with the marquee.

And I want the multi jamma board to be able to add another whatever in 1 board down the road. Saw a Capcom 18 in 1 that looked interesting.

How do those 60 in 1's look on an LCD, and well do they hold up.
What LCD monitor is the best to use with that board.

The Capcom 18-in-1 is a Horizontal multi... So I would save the money and not get the Jamma switcher until you actually need it.

Ah OK, thanks. I'm actually a n00b at a lot of this stuff, I just purchased my first too cabinets last month, after collecting retro consoles and carts for years. I might be getting a Touchmaster 4000 too, for 50 bucks.

So if I leave out the Jamma Switcher that saves me fifty bucks, or I can put it back into the cab in other areas. Would you recommend lighted buttons, or are they tacky? Is a trackball a good addition for the 60 in 1?
