So I've had my William's Indy since 2005, and at this point can basically make any shot with my eyes closed and getting to the wizard mode is pretty much guaranteed at least once per game. I'm all out of room in my game room and have always wanted a Lord of the Rings or an Attack from Mars. So A) Would I be crazy to sell a machine that is pretty much universally loved by all, (including myself but don't find very challenging anymore) and B) if I did go through with this, what are some of your opinions on AFM vs. LOTR?

If you've mastered it and don't enjoy it, then it must be time for someone else to enjoy it.

I'm still not dialed into the ramp shots yet. Not sure if I ever will be, so props to you for being there.

I've only played mine about 50 times, and have hit a billion three times, so I've got a long way to go.

Am I the only one who thinks the six ball multi is a big PITA??

I'd recommend putting some serios time on either of the two pins you mentioned replacing it with before making any decision. IMO there are better Stern titles than LOTR, and despite it's high price and reputation, I'm not a big fan of AFM.

LOTR is my grail pin. :(

But I'll be the first to admit I'm biased. Hobbit/LOTR was the first "adult" books I ever read as a kid. I was a rabid fan for the movies when they came out. My wife and I both have lifetime subscriptions (Paid for itself and more long before they went Free to Play..) to Lord of the Rings Online. I've made her sit down and watch the movies and now she's a bit more familiar with the overall story and characters, and *the wife likes the pinball game*.

So..yeah. It's on my list. Very very very hard for me to justify spending 3500$ on a pin instead of paying off debt though. :(

I know a guy that has an AFM....

Cannot believe you're selling the Indy!

Mmmmmmm, should I make an offer???

You are more than welcomed to play the AFM to help you decide (not for sale though at this time) if you like it or not. Thought I'd throw that out there...

IJ does not do it for me. I have owned 2 of them in the past. I have all the Bally/Williams 'A' title games and IJ was the first one to go. I like AFM more than LOTR but both are good games. The Stern games have a different feel than the B/W stuff.

Ive had an IJ too. I am in love with the idea of an IJ pin, considering how much i love the film series. But the pin, it never got me.

Something feels so off about it. The software is missing alot, for example, there is no cool combo system and the game screams for it.

The mode hole, even if the bounceout is fixed, is such an unsatisfying shot and its a major part of the game. The Mini playfield i couldnt stand.

On the positive side, I did love the center shot alot, and thats the only part of the PF that i miss. The modes are all awesome and really do the film justice.

I had a Mint, HUO version and sold it after 5 months, no regrets. Lots of other good pins out there. LOTR is good, but i would suggest other sterns like SM, IM, Tron before it.

Indiana Jones is infinitely more fun than LOTR. I wouldn't sell for that game.

AFM is tons of fun and worth selling IJ for. I miss my IJ :(

Nope, sold mine for the same reason. :)
Nothing lasts forever. If a pin's been played it stays, if not it moves. ;)

Never looked back to be honest, but enjoy a game at some friends house for sure.

Take a trip to Vegas and spend a couple days at the Pinball Hall of Fame to decide what game(s) you would prefer to own. AFM is a fun game but damn expensive to own. LOTR is one of the few Stern's worth trading an IJ for.

I'm actually going to be in Vegas next week and will most definitely be stopping by the hall of fame.
