Top sanded, doesn't need to be perfect just tidy and solid.

Looking good Griffin. Getting me jazzed to get back on my restore! Where'd you get your bezel? Repro or original. Sorry in advance if it's mentioned earlier in the thread lol

Gaddamn. I'm not jealous of a lot of stuff on this forum, but that looks effing awesome. Really nice work.

I'm still looking for a project cab locally, as I'd love to build one of these someday. I took the time to learn how to repair the boardsets for another KLOVer, and got totally hooked on this game.

(If anyone is looking for a boardset, I have a couple of refurbished sets available.)

Get on that switchable Thief/NATO Defense kit, would ya? Thief is great but NATO is a bit more fun.

Great work, Griffin.

Ha, that would be SICK!

In the meantime, I just acquired a complete NATO kit (untested) - and have Thief getting put together currently :D

....and yes, NICE WORK Griffy ;)

Looks great... but damn that's a lot of speaker going on right there!

The four speakers are actually part of the design, as each one handles a different channel of the audio, and there are four separate channels/sounds (banter, siren, dollar pickup, and crash).

The dollar pickup and siren are generated by the sound chips on the game board, and the banter and crash come from the tape deck, which is controlled by the game board.

Time to try and fix up this completely shredded CP

I took a torch to the old CPO as it was so insanely hard to get any kind of lift off the metal underneath. This has worked well for me in the past
attachment.php

While the torch got rid of the polycarb top, the rest of the CP was still bonded hard to the metal, this was one of the toughest CPOs to remove that I have encountered.

So, where fire didn't work it was time to change attacks and go with Acetone and a wire rotary brush in my drill which gave better results

attachment.php

3 more dousings of Acetone interweaved with attack of the spinny drill brush from hell...

attachment.php

Finally after 5 passes of Acetone and a lot of noisy angry drill attacks...

The wood that goes under the CP was all but gone, however there was enough that I could pattern out a new piece

attachment.php

A little mitering across the front edge to mate with the angle of the metal CP

attachment.php

A little routing to get the NOS Wico base flush with the CP and raise the stick height

attachment.php

Carriage bolt holes and P1/P2 Start buttons done

attachment.php

Nice tight fit

attachment.php

I'm going to glue the wood backing to the metal CP so I have a solid base and then will just bondo fill and sand all the extra holes back until I have a nice smooth surface to attach the new CPO too.
