Last year I posted about these First Alert remote sockets. Well, Walgreens has them back again. $9.99 per unit. I just picked up the 2 that I was missing, so I now have a complete set channels A-G.

If anybody want to see the comments from last year (link).

I have been using these for a year now and they are great. I just walk up to the machine I want to power up, push the button and click, it is powered up. No fumbling with power strips and powering a bunch of games up jus to get the one in the middle. They have a keyring and I mounted the appropriate coin door key to it. When I have parties I just power the games up and pull the remote and the key. After the party, I just click the off button, note the machine that turned off and put the key back into the coin door. I can't believe how much easier this is.

How is this not a thread about the Star Wars chair?!?!?!?

I guess it's a multiple-item thing, though.

Also - I've had a set of A-G that I bought back at Target BITD. I'd imagine they still sell them...? They were a decent brand, like GE or something.

My only worry with something like this or the X-10 is what state do they powerup after a power failure. I would hate to have all the games come on at once, especially if no one is home.

Both sets I have (diff manufacturers) don't come back on after a power-off

maybe a stupid question here.........

I can plug a power strip into one of these and have 5 games come on at once if I want huh?

I just went and bought 2 of them. :)

Depends on the power rating of the games. The First Alert ones are only rated to 1300 watts (about 11 Amps).

As far as I know, Walgreens only has these during Christmas. They are right in the Christmas section. And they are $9.99, save yourself the priviledge of shopping at Target tax. ;)

Found them! Picked up channels A,B,C, & E. I will be checking throughout the holiday season to see I i can get the other channels. Hooked them up tonight and they work great. I LOVE being able to just press a button to get my games on rather that tryig to climb behind and flip switches!

don't the games just run on like 1-2 amps per game?
I was thinking of putting 2-3 games on a power strip and use this remote.
do you guys think I will run into any problems doing this?

2-3, I'd think you'd be fine.

But. I'm no electrician, nor U/L listed.

But that passes my "Meh, sure" test.

Hmm. I need more than 7. When are H-Z coming out?

+1. I think this is pretty awesome, but I need a set with more like 15-20 channels. No sense in going with this solution if it doesn't cover everything.

Guess I could put 2 games per channel though.

Just picked up B-F locally. Still need A and G. Also picked a some extra surge protector strips 2 for $5.

Thanks for the heads-up on these.

You're welcome.

For those that want/need more channels, I only put them on the machines that I can't get to the power switch easily. No need to put them on pins as the switches are usually easy to get to. Same with the machines with the switches on the tops (Pac, MsPac, Galaga, etc) or fronts (like Defender). But with Ataris where the switch always seems to be bottom left or if you have a set of Williams (back left side near the top) side by side, they are perfect.

I have had these on my games for 2 years or so and I can say no problems with surges or power outage issues, happened twice, mine are made by woods and are available at Menards locally, highly recomended, I found mine in a pair for $15 on sale for the pair...
