TheShanMan's Christmas game haul

That would be a pretty hard core road trip to make and pick up games WITHOUT a family in tow. The fact that your Wife and kids went along with it is awesome. Your kids will never forget that trip. You better do something nice for your wife so she does :)

for what its worth, Shanman (jeff) was a nice guy and easy to deal with (even in the pouring rain after clipping the wife's car). The insurance company has been great and jeff was super nice about the whole thing.

Seriously, I hope to work with you in the future and appreciate the hard work and great attitude. Highly recommend working with shanman in the future.

p.s. do you have two popeyes now or is that just the pics?

Well you would have had every right to get angry about it, but you didn't, so thank you for that. You were great about it. I'd definitely work with you again, and I'd be a little more careful next time. :)

Only one popeye. I realize one of the posts wasn't very clear but the first pictures were of the games just shoved inside the game room, and the last 2 pictures were taken after arranging the working games. I edited that post to be a little more clear.

Nice Jeep!! I drive a '96 the exact same color, same window tint, same rims, 5.2L V8, full-time all wheel drive (quadratrac), limited :D

Damn, Shanman - you are THE man! What a great haul of games! I am so jealous! Your gameroom is going to be outstanding, you have a very nice selection of classics. The most I've picked up is two cabs in one day, maybe 100 miles round trip, I can't imagine getting a trailerful... Arc is right, this trip will be one of your kids fondest memories. Great story and pics, thanks for sharing.

Going home, we decided that while we had fewer stops and none off the main route, it would be prudent to split it up into 2 days to make it easier on everyone. First day proved much better in terms of the jeep handling the load going up hills. We made it over the Siskiyou pass into Oregon, and stopped in Ashland to pick up Tempest, Popeye, and Super Mario Bros from the non-klov'er who sold the Tapper to caddysrule. Nice guy who has been slowly selling off his collection. The interesting part of this stop is that he lived up a mountain on a dead end street and I had nowhere to turn around! Had to back all the way down the street with my wife directing me over cell phone. That went fine but just took a while, and unfortunately by the time we were done and picked up dinner it was 9:30.

Awesome haul glad you made it home safe :)

Glad to see you made it home. For those of you who have not seen the guy in Ashlands place, it reallly is way up a mountain, on a steep one lane road. When I went I was very nervous about my games, until we reached the bottom of the hill. I knew if they could take that then the 300 miles home would be a breeze.
That is one hell of a nice collection. I'm sure all the work was worth it.

Great Pics Jeff, great meeting you and the family, you got a friend down here! Thanks again for picking up the Wild kingdom from BigSleepy, thanks BigSleepy for wrapping the game so well. Glad you made it home safe and can't wait to see pics of the game room when its done. I also Love the westcoast arcade pipeline.

Awesome haul! Did you have as much fun as I think I would? Probably more.

:D

It definitely was fun, but I felt pressure (self imposed) to be as fast as possible because of how long the stops were taking. So the one regret (besides taking out the car at bigsleepy's ;)) was not having a little extra time to chat and check out collections. Unfortunately I didn't get ANY time to just check out collections. :(

I love a good roadtrip thread, and with the bonus of pics too!

If there's one thing I've found, its that stopping to pick up a game will always take at least 3x what you expected. Double that if the seller happens to be another collector :)

This picture = total awesomeness!

Nice meeting ya, Jeff. Glad to see you made it back and got it all unloaded! What a trip. Great way to fill in an arcade with classics in one run.

Got a request though. When it's possible to snap the photo, you definetly need to take a picture of both the Spy Hunters back to back! I don't think anyone has ever seen a view like that. :)

Holy crap, Jeff, I'm impressed and envious of your ability to fill a new space. I can't buy anything because my space is filled and am living vicariously through you now. Do you think that you could bring a few of those to the Seattle show in June?

(Mappy, Paperboy, Spy Hunter cockpit)
