when using thermal paste/compound on arcade projects, can you use the same stuff they use when attaching heatsinks to CPUs in PCs? i could order some online, but i was hoping to just swing by a local mom-and-pop computer shop and grab whatever they got there and use it for heatsinks on a Nintendo audio board.

not one hundred percent sure but I know it has to be the non conductive unlike some cpu compounds

For most arcade stuff you just use the white silicone thermal compound, which is hardly used for PC stuff, and definitely not CPUs. This is the stuff I usually use.

i wonder if the one in Herndon would still carry any (or if that RS is still alive!)
