there's still some Xmas magic for an old guy like me - my latest score..

Last night I brought home a new friend for my other games. They didn't know each other before, but they are all around the same age.. Her name, is OMEGA RACE. :)

I haven't gotten to do anything with her yet, hell just the pick-up last night about broke me. I went straight from work to get it, and the game was located 3.5 hours from my work. I kept looking at the Mapquest beforehand saying "yeah that's do-able", but more often than not these days, I find out that when I actually start doing the driving, I don't know who the crackhead was in my head who labeled the trip as "do-able"!!! Nevertheless, I'm proud to say I pulled it off.

I could not resist going for this game. The price was next to nothing, and it's right in the genre of games I most enjoy playing. Plus, it's a vector game so, how can you go wrong with that?? I really needed this pick-me-up, as I had to unload 3 games this year to help out with bills. It was like selling off children.

The game looks like it's in really good shape overall, however the main and daughterboards are missing. Right now I'm simply intrigued by the game because of the following reasons: 1. I don't remember seeing it as a kid. 2. the artwork on the game rocks 3. It is a fellow guardian of the BLACK LIGHT like my TRON, which is by far my most favorite cab of all of the games I have ever owned.

I'd love to have it up and running quickly to be able to check out the gameplay, however since there is a small Holiday coming up soon (/sarchasm), I will be happy to simply get all the lights up and working on it, and drop one of those "damaged in battle" signs over the monitor.

I'm hearing though that there is snow in the forecast for us, so it would be fun to get to tinker with the game while we're snowed in! That rarely happens in our area these days though, so I won't hope too much for that one to happen.

I'd like to find original boards for this game, but after reading all about the battery acid flaw with the original setup, I'll be glad to hear any ideas from "the Elders" here for the best way to get this game up and running. If that means putting a 4 in 1 etc etc in it, so be it.

The pics I have attached are the ones from the original CL ad. I promise to add some more shots this weekend.

I was actually most worried about the bezel and the monitor, because at the time of pick-up it was 26 degrees out. So, I loaded it from a 26 degree environment into a 72 degree (inside) truck, drove it home and unloaded it back out into 26 degree air until I could get it into my 55-degree garage. I was sure I was going to be mopping up glass at some point.
