The Yellowdog want a nice pin fund got hammered today

I have been stashing as much as I can away from board repairs, selling surplus games and parts and today I blew almost all of it (along with a chunk of my profit sharing) for one of these (minus the tournament play sign):

I have been looking for one of these or a Revenge From Mars for the last couple of months and finally bought the one at a local distributor. It is pretty clean, a few dings and a little wear near the downhole. They are going to fix the DMD (it is flickering around the edges) and deliver it Friday. I would have loved to find one from a local collector (to save the sales tax) but nobody had one they were willing to part with (for a reasonable price).

They had one of these at the Houston Arcade show and it was awesome. I fell in love with this machine. But it was from Pinballz and I wasn't going to pay $5K for it (sorry Darrin).

I'll post pictures once it gets delivered. All I had was my crappy cell phone camera and they don't do it justice.

So, now it's back to the boards to try and put together enough money to buy the LED kit for it. :)

that's a good one. I think there is one on location at the round table pizza about a mile from my house.

It was probably one of the last ones from Stern where they had tons of things to shoot at and a very deep ruleset. After that, they started stripping stuff off, until you had IronMan with a practically empty playfield.

There was a Revenge From Mars on Austin CL not too long ago .. I want to say it was around $3.5K. I played that game for the first time at Pinballz and am hooked!

All I can figure is that Pinballz's prices (e.g. the $6K Tron) are aimed at doctors and lawyers ..

Nice pickup! I play that game alot when I'm down at Dorky's arcade. I missed out on one last week for a ridiculous price. Fun game - Barry

Think I saw that listed on CL. Something like $2500?

Never played it before, but sounds cool for a pin with a licensed theme. Sort of surprised you didn't get a Williams pin though???

The only one I have seen on CL for a while, was up in Lubbock. For non-Texans, that is a 10 hour each way drive from Houston. This one was from HA Franz in downtown Houston, and they will be delivering it for free.

I looked at a couple of Williams titles, but $12K was out the range of the "Yellowdog wants a nice pin" fund. :( Plus I have 4 Williams pins sitting in the garage waiting for some warm (but not hot) weather and some time to work on them.

Congrats man! It's always fun when you get a new arcade but its that much better when you have the funds to get a pin....believe it or not. :p

$12K? Sounds like someone wanted a Medieval Madness.

Screw that, I'd be happy with a cheaper Williams. Like T2 or PinBot or something.

do you repair atari superman pinball circuit boards?

No, sorry. I only work on boards that I can test on the bench or that a machine is available for. Those are generally Williams video game boards for now.

I originally had my sights set lower as well. I was looking for a Johnny Mnemonic or a Dr. Who, but I got the opportunity to squander a chunk of my profit sharing so that allowed me to buy up a little bit. It also let me stop looking at the "works 100% except for __________________" machines and get one that really is working 100%.

I hear you. Personally I've got my eyes on a supposed "9" condition Road Show with a bunch of spare parts on Justin, CL for $2200. I think it would combo awesome with FunHouse.

Damn guy won't reply to my emails at all though, so I'm guessing it is either sold or pending sale and he just hasn't removed the ad and isn't replying to anyone else.

From the looks of it or an Attack From Mars pin, those things are almost as ridiculous in price as the medieval madness is and of course...they are the two pins i want...FML...

Weclome to the RBION club! One of the best Sterns ever made. You will not get tired of it fast. Deep and difficult to master. See how long it takes you to beat the default 50 million Grand Champ highscore...

looks like a good one.
would love to run across a real machine to play someday.

been playing the pinball arcade version on smartphone lately and it's quickly becoming a favorite.

Thanks. I'm hoping they got the DMD fixed today so they can deliver it tomorrow, but I didn't hear anything :(

I used to look at this pin as being an example of 10 pounds of crap shoved into a 5 pound bag. The playfield always looked so cramped and cluttered with all the toys and the ramps and everything. You can't even see half of the playfield. It wasn't until I played it a few times that I realized that everything was really well laid out. The skill shots were difficult but not impossible. The targets were well laid out and the whole "Explore the continents" theme along with the wisecracking shrunken head just clicked.

About the 4th or 5th time I played it at the Houston Arcade Show, I just zoned on it. Nailed 65 million on the first ball. Then of course, while I was trying to concentrate on the game my wife walked up and wanted to talk to me about some game she saw in the other room . Needless to say the last two balls drained pathetically. :( But I was hooked. When I asked the owner what he would sell it for, his answer ($5K) made me think it was going to be forever out of reach. So when I found that they generally sell for about half that, I started looking and saving. The rest is history.

Well, they just left a little while. I almost can't believe this:

There is a Ripley's sitting in my living room!!!!!

The wife is probably not going to be happy, but I want to make sure everything is working 100% before I haul it up the stairs.
