(Warning: Rant Ahead)

For the past few weeks, I've been busting my ass with the help of a couple friends to clean out my disastrous garage and get it to where the games are accessible and playable. So far we've hauled truckload after truckload of junk, parts, old projects, cabs, etc in some cases to the dumpster and in some cases to a storage unit. Still have a bit of work to go to realize a nice layout but I think I'm close to the home stretch. This garage I'm using sucks...between the poor electrical system and giant cracks in the floor its a wonder I can get anything done there.

Long story short, I realized I can more or less walk up to just about every game now. Decided to give myself a little motivation by slinging all the necessary cords and firing everything up to get that arcade feel again.

Unfortunately, 2 games right off the bat screwed up. Video Pinball, the one I spent 6+ months fixing, and been working great since...bombed again. It was on for at least 10-15 minutes, then I heard it "bong" and thats all she wrote. Board crapped out for the third time.

My Darkstalkers, another problem game (that my friends love), the monitor must have a cold solder point because now I need to finegle the control panel wire to get a picture. I swear, I've pulled the monitor out of this game more times than games have been played on it. Ready to take a chainsaw to the @#$#@ thing already.

I shouldn't complain...everything else seemed to fire up and work, but there's still a ton of work to do and these games are far from mint. All I want is a lousy game night with everything on and working. Is that too much to ask??

End rant...anyone else that needs to rant...here's your place to do it. :-|

Just going by game night threads with postings along the lines of "inevitably, something stopped working, for me it was x", yes. But in the karmic balance of things, predisastering the party by having a game go out, even one popular with people, might eliminate the possibility of someone dumping a beer down a freshly applied NOS CPO. :)

Alright,I got one for ya...what is up with people owning multiples of the exact same game?!

I can understand if you are going to fix the extras and flip them,or if you have a route and need X amount of.....let's say Pac-Mans in your locations,I can understand picking up another cab that you are going to cannibalise for some reason to make your current one better, etc, but to have like...3,4,5+ working uprights or cocktails of the same game with no intention of selling them just doesn't make any sense. If anyone can enlighten me,please do.I'd like to hear the rationale behind this.
