The WG K6100 discussion thread.

I find that 6100's are one of the easiest to work one. Well-documented service manual helps a lot...

I have had a couple that seemed to be working fine when I was done, but the B+ and HV was too high, and if I had not metered it, I would not have been able to tell. I am not dismissing you or your son's abilities, but are you checking all the voltages when you are done, or just seeing a picture on the screen and calling it good.

I checked his work over and I do adjust the B+. I did have one that had major B+ issues that took a while to sort out though!

Oh I did just remember the SW I had recently that had a 6100 in it where the image at the bottoms was scrunched. I never did fix that and sold it to a fellow KLOV member with the problem still there. And I believe he later sold it to someone else....with the problem still there.

I just finished a BR delux kit plus lv2000 on my 6100, Ill be putting it back together this weekend, what should I check voltage wise besides the b+ before calling it done?
Thanks

I've done a couple of 6100's. They're not that bad to work on. There's a lot more cables, so it seems more daunting than, say, a G07, but it's not terrible. I think the worst part is that I can't easily test them on the bench, which means I have to hook it back up to the game, making some testing more difficult. I suppose if I worked on more of them I'd have a bench rig like I do for raster monitors and boards.

I've never used the LV2000. If the LV section looks good I have just changed the caps and left it alone. If the LV section was fried or had some other weird problem, I build my own little replacement with positive and negative 24v regulators.

Got two in SW & Tempest. Did Bob's deluxe kit on both, lopt's from Chad and installed LV2000's. Had a problem with deflection on the Tempest but it turned out to be a bad transistor socket so up until now, no problems whatsoever. Found fitting all of the above a bit time consuming but relatively easy though.

Only problem now is the G05 in Asteroids :(

I've rebuilt a lot of these monitors and it is probably my favorite. All sections of the monitor are straight forward and IMHO easy to test. I usually just install an LV2000 and a Zanen kit.
When completed I adjust the B+, and I use a Fluke HV probe to make sure everything is correct.
