Well I finally got a Official site up for The Video Craze project I have been doing for nearly 2 years.....
Just a lot of work for one guy to do, lol. With my other business and having kids kinda gets in the way. Anyway I wanted to let you all know that I am going to California Extreme again this year looking for more footage to film and document. If anyone wants to have interviews done let me know, or just quick hello to the camera about what you like about coming to these shows.......
I still have other interviews to conduct....you know who you are....hehe :)

let me all know what you guys think, also the site is still being worked on.

HAHA! thank you, yeah is that to annoying?

No that was not what I was trying to say, The music you chose for the site is great!!
But if you cant pauze the music when you want to watch the youtube preview then you would have two sounds playing trough/against eachother and that doesn't sound nice :D

So it's a good thing that one can pauze the music when one wants to watch the Youtube preview.

I've seen you filming for this about half a dozen times and I've seen about half a second of me on one of your clips. I think I'd be happy if my time was at least quadrupled.

All kidding aside, I think its comming along great. I cant wait to see the final product no matter how long it takes.

Hahaha! Hector, I got you ripping at Track n" Field, and TRON brotha !!! Just need a little interview from tha masta of Track N' Field ;)

I guess I'll be seeing you at CAX then. Anything to help out. I wouldnt know what to say so have a couple of questions and I'll try to have some decent answers. I'm usually very brief with my comments but I'll try my best to not be boring if you need a lil interview.

Thank's Hector,
Yh it doesn't have to be very lengthy. Hell... I am not good at interviewing, Im just looking for a quick... I love games, California Extreme rules!, or i got good at this game because........

Looks like a great film although I have to take issue with the "arcades now collect dust" and that they have "come and gone." Every weekend at my mall arcade it's quite busy (and no, I don't have a redemption desk or any of that crap) and I know I am not the sole arcade left on the planet. Give us modern ops a little credit :)

Thank you, well as a whole from what it used to be, say in 1982 it was a arcade surge, so it is really about classic gaming where I am taking from. Today it really is all redemption, driving, gun behemoth's ! lol. I am just saying it isn't like it used to be, not the same anyway.

I understand what you mean - it's not the same with the kinds of games and the earnings, etc. but it's not a completely dead industry. There are still over a a few dozen companies worldwide producing new games and not all of them make driving/gun/redemption stuff either. Taito is making some great old-school style games with a modern twist like Darius Burst Another Chronicle. Or Sega had Giant Tetris came out this year; and there has been Sea Wolf: The Next Mission, Pac-Man Battle Royale, Fruit Ninja FX all come along in recent times which all have an old-school flavor to them. I know it's not as many as we used to see but they are out there making a path for more games like them.

When the "arcades are dead today" mantra is put out there, in a way it ends up hurting locations out there who still trying to make it and have a strong focus on video games. A lot of operators are collectors too. There are still thousands of locations out there making money off of these machines(and truthfully they make more off of redemption because people are more willing to dump their money into those - when a unique arcade game comes along these days it often has a hard time making the money a driver or light-gun game does unfortunately which is why companies often don't risk it).

Either way, I still look forward to seeing the finished film when it's done.

Yeah, and I get your points also. It's a build up on saying arcades are dead, Now that there is a resurgence of collectors who are restoring games for there home arcade. That is what the doc., is about collectors, and restoring games of old, and the nostalgia from the beggining of why we collect them today. It is great that there are still arcades out there, believe me ;)
Im also not a story teller, I am just having fun with my camera and the hobby I love. I am in no way a pro to this kinda thing. I have only done this for 2 years. I hope when it's done people will enjoy it for what it is. There is so much more I would like to do with this, but out of my capibilities.

Great job on the website Dave! I enjoyed the intro music to the Flock of seagulls and can't wait for the final video presentation! Remember me when you decide to sell copies of the Video Craze!

Two things....

1. Would be cool to see you do some interviews with folks like Ground Kontrol or Galloping Ghosts. Show how some of those folks with the passion for these games are going so far as to bring it back to the masses.

2. I found an ABC news video you link to on your site..

In that series, they speak to the US president of Taito at the time. Taito was working on some game called "Chainsaws and Toasters". Noticed it never came to be. Does anyone know if it was renamed and released...or just dropped. I'm somehow interested in playing it!

I think it's very cool to look at the collection side of things, collecting started me on the path of opening my own place so I could share the games I have with others (and hopefully make a little money on the side). Then again I would have to say Discs of Tron and the movie really started me down the path but never mind that.

Looks great Dave. I'm stoked for the upcoming release.

I nabbed some raw footage from the NW Pinball show and will be having a couple other guys join me for filming this weekend. Hopefully have stuff to send you next week.
