I have five arcade machines, of which only one is working correctly...ugh..and it is the one game that I dont play...

I am new to this, and would love to have a few more games in the stable (Asteroids is a MUST), but need to get these up and going before the wife (and kids that want to play them) kill me for taking up her garage space with winter coming...

Tekken2 - don't play it, but works fine...in a SEGA cabinet...

Defender - fixed the power supply problem and it worked for a while, but now gives me the 'rug pattern' screen. Needs new RAM???

NBA Jam Extreme - Need to build a new box for the controllers to sit on. it seems that this one has been redone once. Anyone have some good pics of an original, clean box? Want to make it look as original and nice as possible. Otherwise a decent working machine.

Wizard of Wor - I was told it needs a new PCB set. Any way to test this?

Golden Tee 97 - In a TMNT cabinet, and was told the monitor board is bad. What info do I need to get this repaired or order a new one? Worked when it was picked up, but has been moved twice.

I appreciate (as does my wife) the help in getting these repaired!

One of our local members could probably help you out... but alas... you have not listed your city so as of right now, no one is local to you.....

Your not 'unlucky" because you have more non-working games than working. You are normal in this hobby. Consider yourself "lucky" because you have games to work on.

could be bad ram or could be something else. There are people here who I believe can fix defender boards. I believe yellowdog may be one of them. Maybe drop him a PM

personally I'd just look at the flyer and the cab you have and I could probably make a good guess at proper shape and size. I'm sure someone here with an NBA jam could get basic measurements for you though.

Power it on and check all the voltages. If it powers on but with issues and the voltages are all present and correct it likely is a board issue. Often times with WoW board sets it's not a complete set but only one board that is bad. You may be able to simply replace that one board. Your options likely range from finding someone to fix the board to buying a single board to buying a new board set. A gorf board set may likely have the parts you need to fix your WoW as they are mostly the same.

First turn the game on and verify that the game is getting power and that the game can be credited and that it makes sounds. This mostly eliminates a bad main board scenario. Since you say the monitor board is bad I'd expect either no picture or a bad image. If the image is distorted or something you might want to post a pic here to get opinions. May just be an adjustment or could be a board issue. If you determine that the monitor does have an issue there are people you can send it to for repair. You will of course need to identify the chassis to see who repairs these. To be clear this is not the tube number or identifier but the chassis (monitor pcb) that you need to identify. www.therealbobroberts.net has a monitor id page that will likely help you do this.
