the true "gorf" word record holder......

Who says 943K is my best score? Until someone officially beats it I stay in the #1 spot.
....

Ha! John's gonna pull a Mitchell and dig a tape out of the closet :)

I don't see the issue. John is the WR holder until TG posts otherwise. I can sit here and say I've score 2M (I haven't) and it doesn't mean squat.

Edit: and John is a GREAT champ!

I wish I actually enjoyed playing the game but I do not quite honestly. I only play it when people tell me to.

Yeah, someone emailed me and then I looked it up ... disgusting. :(

Made sense I didn't know about it too... it happened when I was taking a few year break from the hobby while we raised our kids.

I can tell you guys this much... I seen the 943,580 Gorf score and I know first hand how much work went into it. Not only did John work on this for months but these high scoring games take a very long time as well. It's going to be hard to beat this score.

On July 8, 2019, Matthew Garrett set a new world record score in Gorf Arcade for the 3 ship setting of 1,543,160 points, recognized by Twin Galaxies. His game spanned 953 missions across 6 hours 41 minutes.

Garrett holds the world record for both the arcade 3 & 6 life settings and is the first person recorded to reach mission 500 (having beaten each of the 5 individual levels 100 times) without losing a life.

High score saves version 345,480 6 ships

And his Hard Set World Record on 3 ships setting of Mission 107 with a score of 167,100.

He holds the GORF Mame and Atari Jaguar records also.

Why are you referring to yourself in the third person?

I talked to Todd Rogers for quite some time(several times) at Funspot in 2009 and encouraged him to practice up and take back the WR. At the time he just didn't feel it was the thing for him to do, although I persisted.

And yet, in 2007, Rogers had me pick up a Gorf machine in NY for him, and deliver it to his house...

Todd's a TG senior ref, so I'm not sure who has to be there to watch him live if its not being filmed.

Considering the state of TG at that time, the answer is ... nobody. As in, nobody was needed to verify your score as a senior ref, because you could simply self-enter your scores at will. And Rogers did, 1,000+ times.

I don't want to hurt anybodies feelings but Todd is sandbagging for a big event we are going to do a few months after the Kong Off. Todd stayed at my place for a few days and he put up well over a million in my home arcade.

2011 is the year of the Knucklehead

LOL SURE he did.
Knucklehead indeed.
