It is always cool when I see/get a game that has the old tax permit or permits on them. I never take them off. I have some that have the county/city tax permits as well as the state (some have multiple years of the stickers visible - we always scraped them off). Everyone wanted their 'cut' of the arcade game revenue back then. Now it is mostly just the state (in Texas, at least) that has a tax permit requirement.

i think i've seen an illinois one once, but i've never actually owned a game with one.
Really? I think all of my games have tax tags on them. The most recent one is 2006 I believe. I have an old Sega Turbo cockpit with 2001 tags. O.O

i love the old stamps and stickers that appear on machines, especially ones that have sat in a warehouse or home for years. unless they're completely trashed, i try to leave them intact on my cabinets, even old operator tags and the like.

I saw some on a jukebox the other day from '63, '65, and '66.

And I found an unused one from 1981 the other day if someone absolutely has to have one....

I have a few games with tax stickers on them. The most interesting was this metal one I found in the coin box of my Roy Clark pin. Not sure what game it is actually from.

All the money the crooked politicians brought in from the classics BITD is probably the same billions they just gave General Motors.

I have a few stickers in my arcade, too...

Old tax stamps and op stickers are like war medals. Let your cab wear them with pride. :)

I've been saving the tags I find for years. Thought it would make a cool collage in the game room. Many of the tags I found were just applied with tape or stuck in the corner of the bezel. Backing still intact and all. Does that make them NOS? :)

There is one on my T2 from Ocean City, MD. Funny thing is, when my wife and I were dating, we went with friends to Ocean City one weekend, and we have a picture that was taken of us in a pizza place that had an arcade attached to it. In the back of the pic you can see a T2 machine. What are the chances that I now own the cab that was the one in the pic?

I remember the games at the campground we stayed at while visiting my grandparents in Florida back in the early 80's always had tax stickers on them.

hey Brian,

Last night while moving games around I noticed I have the exact same 1983 Texas sticker on the back of my Tempest machine. Maybe they werein the same arcade at some point?

I think that would just mean that they were both operated in Texas in 1983 since nothing is more specific than that.
