The Tale of four Battlezones.

Always enjoy your stories, thanks again for posting. I had a BZ upright a few years ago and traded it for an Asteroids. But just recently I was finally able to get a BZ cabaret.

Very cool story. What happened with the fourth battlezone and the owner? I assume he was cool with getting two working machines? I was looking for some expansion on that subject - I think that his response to the issue would be interesting.

Oh, and thanks for helping to keep the hobby alive. I'm sure that those two other machines will make someone happy. :)

Yet another vector to add to the collection. I now have an addiction within an addiction : vectors games.

From what I understand, those 2 working ones are for him and his brother. He was going to sell the 4th as a project game and then decided to keep it for spare parts for his machines. Since the 4th game wasnt completed, i agreed to take a look at another game for him that he had in his warehouse that he wanted working. He paid for the parts to get his 2 machines working, basically 2 cap kits and 2 high score save kits , and he provided marquee lamps and the black light for the one machine that needed it . I only provided labor for his and the parts for my machine. I should have expanded on that a bit. I think it would be fair to say that in the end we were both happy with the outcome.

VERY cool. It's always nice to meet up with cool people who have machines they're willing to let go of in exchange for some work. Eldorado Games used to work like this back in the day (when they had money issues). "fix X amount of boards and get this lovely near-mint SpaceDuel" LOL

Anyhow, thanks for that last tidbit. The story is now complete...in my mind. :)

Ya, realistically, those games would have just sat up there forever and i think he knew that. It was a job in itself just getting them down the stairs , in fact, just getting them TO the stairs was a job, and it was about 110 on the second floor of that warehouse that day. At least now he has some 2 working Battlezones instead of 4 dead ones. I put a lot of time into just cleaning these things too. They were all pretty dirty and one had the obligatory mouse turds and pee in it ( of course it was the one i wanted for myself) but oh well, it was fun and some games are saved so all is well.

Cool story. Love the Battlezone. Can I ask where you got the ribbed rubber for the step matting? Is it a perfect match?
