Well, not a $1,000,000, however, the start of an improvement.

I picked up a MB a while back and was content. Played the game for a while and noticed it just didn't have the "bang" that some of my other games do. So....off to redoing it!

The cabinet needed new decals in my opinion. I put the game on on blocks and started tearing it off....

A shot of the tear down....

In the process of sanding and painting and did a shot of the stripped cabinet...

While I am doing the sanding, took all the metal parts to get chromed (coin door, side rails, lock down, side brackets, bolts, etc) and started to work on he head of the cab. I didn't take too many pictures at this stage...here is the final shot of the left side...

So, from here, the fun of sanding and painting.
I am going to do the cabinet in a blue/purple mix inside and out. I decided to paint the back the natural black. Kind of interesting what the inside of the cabinet will look like when it's completed...

It's going to take a few weeks for me to get the cabinet correct. Needs to be perfect, right? Plus, in the cooler weather, I figure it will take about a week to fully dry before reinstalling the insides.

The fun part will be cleaning the parts to go back in!

wow thats some serious work going on there, cant wait to see it redone!!!

Holy cr*p!

That is some serious work that you are putting into that puppy. If ever there was a pin worth putting that much time and effort into, it is Monster Bash!

Keep us updated.

Yes, a little work, no more than what I used to put into the arcade games...
Going to be fun! Good thing for me, I already finished up the playfield, that would have been a fun thing to snap some pictures of! (might do that for the Creature though...)

No. TOTAN has eluded me for now. I stopped looking while I finish up some projects. Would love to find one though...

Damn! Those are some really nice chrome parts. I can see how you came up with the title for this thread.

What did you do to the playfield?

Just got done over the last few weeks getting the cabinet ready for paint.

Sanding and bondo. Sanding and bondo. It seemed to last forever!

I am shooting the inside of the cabinet tonite a Royal Blue color. The back and head are already done with the black.

Cabinet pics are coming soon...

Sorry if this is a dumb question...but....why shoot blue on the outside? Aren't you just going to cover it back up with decals? :p

Looks great, but seems kind of redundant. Love the entire painted inside though, imagine how much easier it will be to keep that sucker free of dust in there..just get a lightly damp rag and wipe it down. Makes me want to work on my machines....told my wife the other day I was doing that tonight, been putting it off for a while now.

Yes. That is a dumb question, Next Please. ;)

I decided to shoot the inside and outside on this project. My thought process was simple. I needed a guaranteed smooth surface for the cab art. To a few, they would sand and be done. I went the extra mile, as I do in all my restorations.

Why bother half assing it???

The color was matched to the art. Just by a slim chance in the future life of this game, the art would tear, yet, the color underneath would make it less noticable....ha! Even I cannot say that with a straight face... :D

Simple answer = I wanted to.
