Can someone get me some pictures of the wires and which coils they go to under the PF? It looks like someone went and hacked in all kinds of wires and I really don't know what goes where!

Update: Found some info on rgp that the 3 lock switches sometimes cause the issue. With age they tend to not register the ball going over them *3 switches showing bad in the test* and they will make the magnet/wall setup shut down. I think I manually tested the switches and don't remember getting anything from them, but will check them again tomorrow since I am off and will have time to really dig into it.

Still could use those pictures if anyone has them though.

Also if you would have read I said the wiring is really hacked up around that area so a lot of the dedicated wire colors aren't there!

What makes you think I didn't read what you said? I did.

Maybe I'm the only one who would rather look at a schematic than a picture. Most of the time pictures are a real pain in the ass to work from.

I looked at the schematic, but with the wires being hacked up I cannot really tell what is what. I figured out several other issues by google and the manual, but this one is kicking my ass, but from something I read it seems that the 3 lock switches can cause the wall/magnet to die if the game doesn't see them register. I have checked the fuses and all of those are good, but several of the wires in that area have jumpers that were done after the fact from what I could tell so I was trying to make sure they weren't originally there and just redone crappily.

What I would probably do is pull out all the hacks and re-wire it according to the schematic. Hopefully someone will come up with a picture for you if you feel that will be easier.

I don't think it will make this any easier, but more of a visual guide. I can read a schematic, but I am more of a visual person and pictures often help put the entire perspective together.

I would personally (continuity test) the wires (chopped end) and then check each board connection. Eventually you'll find where they connect unless you have a wire break in between. Then reference the manual.

well after looking at the wires going to the wall coils one of the wires is just wrapped around the post as a lot of the other wires were that had switch issues!!!! Yeah screw solder wrap the shit it will be fine!!!!

Is there a way to test a microswitch? One of the switches on my Shadow does nothing. In test it doesn't show close or anything. I checked the diode and it tested good so I am thinking it is probably the switch?

Got all of my parts in Friday so did some work yesterday on the Shadow. Replaced the switch that was giving me fits and checked the wires going under the pf to the connector. After closer inspection the reason why the machine wasn't recognizing the switch is because it was plugged into the ring connector, so swapped the two connectors and bam it works!

Wall: Replaced the little coil that controls the pin that allows the wall to drop. When I removed the coil one side just came off so thinking the wire inside broke. Also was looking at the switch at the bottom of the setup and looks like the switch actuator isn't making contact with the metal piece so put in the new switch tonight, adjust, and reinstall.

Hopefully this will solve my issues so I can start the tear down, major cleaning, and wax job! Over all the play field is nice just really dirty, but in front of the wall section is a bunch of build up so hopefully my TC kit can cut threw it!

Wall questions: Is the little coil supposed to have a sleeve in it? Also the switch on the bottom is it supposed to be normally closed or does the metal bracket that hits the actuator normally in the up position?

Wow, jesus you're asking a lot of questions. The wall coil won't really have a sleeve in it. That mini coil looking thing that pops the wall up? No, not really. Should it be open? Well, normally the game leaves the wall up, if that answers your question. So, it shouldn't be pushing down on the switch... only when it's down, which is VERY seldom in this game.

Well John I would love for the thing to just work, but it doesn't so in order to get an answer a question has to be asked.

Anyways the magnet is grabbing now and acting perfect in test, but during an actual game it grabs and throws the ball too soon. Also the wall still isn't dropping and the game is still saying bad switch/coil and I have replaced both so I am stuck?

The wall not dropping is saying that the solenoid that drop it is having problems. Does it drop in the test menu? I had a TSPP that had the same issue, and the wire just came loose... re soldered it, and good as new. This game gave me a bad switch/coil error on my door leading to the battlefield (same idea as the brick wall), and I had a diode loose that wasn't really connecting. Did you check all your connections? I don't know about the whole "magnet throwing it too soon/hard" thing. Sounds like you need to fix the wall first before you go on.
