The Search for Galaga joystick "rubber bumper button"

EDITED-

I am trying to find a bumper button style #3 (below) for an original Galaga joystick. These seem hard to find for some reason?

The bumper button dimensions are approximately:

A 5/8"
B 5/8"
C 1/4"
E 5/16"

and the space between the two halves is 1/8 inch
Example image from this website: http://millerrubber.com/#bb (they are wholesale only)

If you can help me find these (retail) I would appreciate it. Thanks
I am still searching...

Nothing yet

No automotive or hardware stores seems to have anything like this.
I went through the entire catalog for the parts bin at Ace HW...

I will keep searching. :)

close # 4088 rubber button bumpers

Trying these:

# 4088 Pack of 15 rubber button Bumpers A=5/8, B=15/32, C=5/16, D=25/64, E=1/4,

# 4185 Pack of 15 rubber button Bumpers

These might be closer to original dimensions since the ones I have are sooo old and dried up:

# 4185 Pack of 15 rubber button Bumpers A=5/8, B=7/16, C=1/4 D=11/32 E=1/4

I rebuilt the shifter sticks on my Demolition Derby, which are very similar (Bally/Midway), and also use these bumpers.

I took square rubber adhesive bumpers, which you can get anywhere, and drilled holes in them horizontally. Then I dremeled out small indentations in the sides of the metal plate where the bumpers mount, and zip tied them to the metal mount, running the ties through the holes in the bumpers. The indentations just keep the zip tie from sliding off of the mount, and along with the adhesive, hold it in place.

It worked out pretty well, as the bumpers I used were a little thicker and softer than the original ones.

I would be interested if someone identifies a replacement for the originals though, as these are used in a lot of other similar Bally sticks, like Tapper.

button bumpers

So I did not pay attention to the most important part of the diagram --> E
So neither #4088 or #4185 work since the joystick metal shaft will still bump into the metal of the control panel joystick slot.

Trying these now:

# BB41 Pack of 15 Rubber Button Bumpers A=1/2, B=9/16, C=1/4, D=5/16, E=3/8

The E dimension should be at least 5/16 inch from what I have measured. 3/8" will allow for a little more of a soft feel or I can sand off 1/16" if needed.

dont some solenoids brackets on pinball machines use a rubber stop that might work?

#bb41 winner!

These work well:

#BB41 Pack of 15 Rubber Button Bumpers A=1/2, B=9/16, C=1/4, D=5/16, E=3/8

I installed them and they are a nice fit.
