The Retroboards: Submit Your Classic Console Scores!

Remember when you used to take pictures of the score on your TV and mail them in to Electronic Games Magazine or Activision?

The Retroboards are an electronic scoreboard with retro submission guidelines. Unlike other scoreboards where you are required to mail a VHS recording, the Retroboards require only a photo along with player information for score verification.

This is not a tournament - this is an electronic scoreboard with no submission deadlines. It is a contest that never ends.

Now tracking scores on select Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800 & ColecoVision platforms

Sorry for the delay in responding...

Since the original post, I added the Atari 8-bit Retroboards and the Commodore 64 Retroboards will be arriving shortly.

ADDITIONALLY, I have a Vectrex tournament coming up in September.

Lastly, High Scores Arcade has been kind enough to team up with Retrocade Magazine with the Arcade/MAME Summer Showdown. You can play the games live at their arcade in Burlington, NJ where they will record and subsequently post your scores or you can play at home or your local arcade and submit screenshots.

See retrocademagazine.com for the skinny and then go to the Events forum @ http://retrocademagazine.freeforhosting.com/ for all the details on both tournaments.

But, that's not all! If you register with the Retrocade Magazine forums, you will get exclusive content including early bird preview issues containing full articles before they are released to the general public. I have about a 1/2 past articles I have written on the forums now - 1 of which was never before published.

Pretty cool I'm sure you'll have some people on here participate. I don't have any of those systems,so the only way I could submit scores would be by using an emulator for them.

Well, it's been a while since I posted and there's a lot of updates...

The Arcade/MAME Summer Showdown was a huge success! The players really enjoyed the game selection and I had the overall tournament lead until the final weekend of the tournament. I would up in second place only behind by 1.5%.

The Vector War is a six pack of Vectrex games done tournament style. The lineup as voted on by members:
Armor Attack
Rip Off
Scramble
Solar Quest
Star Castle
Web Wars

Vector War runs September 1-19 on the Retrocade Magazine forums.

Stella's Six Pack is an Atari 2600 tournament which will run October 13-31 on the forums as well. Members vote on 1 game each from 6 pools of selections. There will be a good mix of games in the tournament: driving games, maze games, platformers, vertical shooters and side-scrolling shooters.

A ColecoVision tournament is slated for November and a second Arcade/MAME tournament in January.

As far as score tracking goes, we are tracking a ton of games since the time I started this thread. We are currently tracking scores on the 2600, 5200, 7800, 8-bit, ColecoVision, Commodore 64, Intellivision & NES. More games are added frequently and if a game or game variation isn't listed you can request it to be added or if it can't be added (based on photographic submission guidelines) scores can and will be accepted through live streaming or YouTube.

But wait - there's more! As a forum member, you have access to articles I have written previously for magazines as well as a PREVIEW of Retrocade Magazine which is available now! It contains a FULL article along with sample content that will be published in the magazine. It's free - all you have to do is register with the forums!

The preview has gotten rave reviews and two thumbs up from classic gamers Walter Day and Todd Rogers.

The RetroBlog publishes all the top scores from the Retroboards every Friday night. And during tournaments, the RetroBlog posts frequent score updates. You can receive RetroBlog updates via RSS. You can find the blog here.
