The REAL Q*bert swearing marquee

(EDIT) This is for sale. I figure the original $70 shipped that phoenixarcade sold them for originally is a good starting point. I have 1 guy who is checking with his buddy to see if he wants it but otherwise let me know if you're interested. Would also consider trades. I will get it in the FS section shortly.


So I picked up a big lot today of random arcade/pin boards, parts, etc from a local guy who used to collect quite a bit but now just wanted to get all of it out of his garage. At $100 for what came out to be about 6 boxes of stuff, a WG monitor, and some random marquees/bezels I couldn't complain. Anyways, one of the marquees was the one pictured below. He said it was from a small run someone did awhile back. It's silk-screened on plexi and is in perfect condition as it is still sealed in its original plastic shrink wrapping. I think it's hilarious... anyone know anything more about it?

(by the way, that mark on the top right corner is tape residue on the shrink wrap... not on the actual marquee)

Its a great looking marquee, and i don´t see anything offending about it!

Tasteless... If you have family or friends over I'm sure it would be inappropriate at times. The humor about Q-Bert is you can have an idea of what he is saying in his garbled speech...without saying it.

Personally I think it would have been better saying "What The Fuck?"... and of course it would be for an adults only venue. I prefer the original cussing marquee myself.

...but the tackiest part of the marquee is the horrid font used.

Why not just change out the words in his bubble, without enlarging it so much? It wouldn't look as crass if it was still small like in the original marquee:

Heheheheheh... I've never seen that, but it's kinda funny. I don't think I'd actually put it on my Q*Bert, but I'd certainly chuckle if I walked up to a machine that had it .
