Metroid Prime 3 sucked because of it.

Totally disagree on Metroid Prime Corruption. Awesome game. Then again I hate playing FPS games with analogue joysticks. That sucks more than motion control.

Motion control that's tacked on to a game by replacing button pushing with waggling sucks.

Motion control done RIGHT does not suck. Unfortunately, not many games have managed to get it right.

lol, that was fast.

I don't completely hate motion control, but I don't like being forced to use it when I would much rather just press a button. Some games are made for motion control, but eventually it reaches the point to where it just seems gimmicky.

I know Nintendo is trying to be family friendly by promoting exercise and fun family games, but that just doesn't do it for us long term gamers. I want less gimmicks and more thought put into the games. I would much rather companies spend their money on developing (or paying the developers to develop) good, quality games with the resources we already have.

I'm dreading the day when all video games are motion sensitive and in 3d. I also dread the day that all movies are in 3d, but that's another story. I just wish that Sony and Microsoft wouldn't try so hard to compete with Nintendo and Apple. The PSP and iPod should be completely different products and shouldn't even be compared to each other. The Xbox and Playstation were originally made to play with buttons, don't add motion stuff just because Nintendo did. Though, I have to admit that Sony's does look a little fun, I still wont be rushing out to buy it.

Anyways, I just wish Nintendo wouldn't force these gimmicks on the players and the developers. It's starting to ruin some titles for me. :( I just hope the next Zelda isn't going to be as bad as I'm expecting it to be.. Then all hope will be lost.

I guess I can take back what I said about MP3 sucking, because I couldn't get that far into it because of the controls. So let's say it didn't suck as much as it was unplayable.

I can't stand being forced to use wagglemotion. It's annoying. I agree with zzaz3 about some games working great and others not - but that's the problem. Someone mentioned (possibly in the other thread) that the Wii is cluttered with shovelware. I couldn't agree more with that. If Nintendo instituted the "Seal of Quality" like it did with the NES days (or if it is instituted - ENFORCE IT) the Wii wouldn't be buried in shitware. It's like the N64 all over again. 2 or 3 great first party games and the rest was forgettable tripe.

And Zelda on Wii doesn't count because it was designed for the GameCube and the whole wagglemotion control scheme was tacked on, insofar as much that they even flipped the damn game world just to make it work.

I had a modded Wii. Not trying to get that nficalla guy off his rocker again but even with all the free games I had on the Wii, I hated it. I sold that thing off as soon as I could. That's great that the Wii is getting non-gamers to play. That's great that it's printing money for Nintendo. I have nothing against that.

But I still think the Wii is a terrible system, for my taste. It has a few decent first party games like Smash Bro's Brawl, BoomBlocks, and one or two others I can't remember. But the rest... pass.

PS Move, Xbox Kinect, PS3 Camera - pass.

We'll see what Zelda Skyreach Sword is like, since that's the first Zelda game designed for the Wii. Maybe those Motion Plus dongles won't be a waste of $$$ after all.

That is one thing that really annoyed me - The Motion Plus only works with games designed for it, it's not backwards compatible.

At G4 they said they made it to be more of a 'casual' game. *gulp* I sure hope it's not bad..

Boom Blox wasn't first party, it was put out by EA. Motions fine when done right, and can suck horribly when poorly implemented, and that will be the case whether it's Wii, 360, or PS3.

I had a wii with like 75 games. super mario galaxy was cool, metroid was alright. sports games were cool. the motion controls worked best with baseball, bowling, boxing, and stuff that you can actually use 2 hands for. not where you just held the nunchuck cause you had to use the analog. golf was cool to although I never played it with the motion plus. shooters were cool cause you didnt need anything other than a case for the controller.

its was a win some lose some. im staying away from kinnect. right now it seems way to kiddish.

The tech needs more time in the oven.
Regardless of the whole Nintendo/casual gamers argument that a lot of people always bring to this talk, I find it funny when video game journalists start sounding disappointed when they hear that a title will have motion control (case in point, IGN's Gamescoop talked six months ago about how Fable 3 was rumored by Molyneux to have Project Natal controls and they all made wretching noises).
In my opinion, when it's done well it can be amazing. Unfortunately, we're not fully there yet.
I would love to play a Red Steel type of game where my sword is swinging perfectly and accurately in a 1:1 ratio but none of the tech so far can actually do that. I include Move in there because everything I've heard so far, especially the reviews for The Fight Lights Out, say it's still not 1:1.
Motion control looks awesome in movies ala Minority Report, but to actually really engineer that concept is about as far away from reality as making HAL 9000 is (by that I mean a computer that can have a conversation with you, not a homicidal machine).

I'm of the thought that it's okay when implemented properly. I still prefer buttons. I like just sitting on the couch to play games... I don't mind some of the stuff on the wii, because you don't really have to do all the fancy motions.

When playing wii sports, I'm the one on the couch flicking my wrist to bowl a high score, while my (kinda dumb) friends are trying to do the whole motions.

I like to bowl the full motion, but not even in the direction of the TV just to annoy people. I'll put my back to the TV and full motion towards the people sitting on the couch, or do the full motion from the fridge while getting a drink, not even in the same room. It's funny to me and annoys them when I can get a strike doing it (not every time, but often enough).
