The Official KLOV "Regret" Thread

I seriously regret not having enough space for or time to work on all the projects that have come and gone. I wish I had kept the Kung-Fu Master, Bump-n-Jump, UR Demolition Derby, Operation Wolf..and a few others over the last couple years that had to be sold for one reason or another.

I'm sure he was honest and payed the guy 3 times the asking price, so why would you be concerned. ;)
Oh, I've got a really good one...

Years ago, back when parts for XY color Atari monitors were not readily available, I had found an operator who had AT LEAST 5 complete and working Atari vector monitors that were sitting on the shelf and pulled from the various games still working. They told me that they would be sitting there, waiting for me, and whenever i needed one, they would let me have them for $50 each. Since they assured me that they wouldn't sell them to anyone else, i figured that they would be there for me whenever i needed them.

My MISTAKE is that i told a fellow collector about them, but didn't tell him WHO had them, just what (Large) city they were in. He did some digging (without me knowing about it) and went there (a three hour drive) and picked up EVERY SINGLE complete monitor and ONLY left partial units or parts. Fast forward a little while. I need to fix either my Space Dual or Tempest (i forget which), so i call them up. He seems quite confused about why i am calling. He then tells me that my "friend" had already come down to pick them all up. I was like "what do you mean? You told me that you were holding them for me!". I bet you can guess his response...

"He indicated to us that he was picking them up on your behalf. As if he was getting them for YOU!"

Needless to say, I lost all faith in humanity that day. i hope that there is a special place in Hell for people like that guy...

That would be only regret for games that I have sold and wish I had kept.

Vids: Stargate, Dig Dug, Rampage, DepthCharge, Major Havoc (SD cab), Gorf

Pins: Cyclone, Black Knight 2000, The Who's Tommy

There are probably more that I can't remember right now.

I regret not buying more crap at a nearby auction once.

Cheap stuff- pinball bodies, pallets of boards, control panels, $5 games. I got overly concerned about transportation and storage and actually gave away a few games I had bid on.

I wish I could go back. I would look like Steve23 !!

haha

Had a chance to buy a really really nice Indiana Jones Pin (Williams '93) for $1400.00 before I knew anything about anything... I passed because I "didn't have the cash"... only I did.

I got 2 I can remember off the top of my head...First one was passing up on a Taito Crazy Climber for $150ish. Second was not picking up a I Robot in the late eighties when a OP was blowing them out for a couple hundred....

Dude, passed on the Major?!? Must've needed the cash, perhaps?

Same here. We had a recent auction and I wish I had more cash and got there sooner. I could've bought a couple of fighting game cabinets where I wouldn't still be on my search for a nice SFII anymore....and all for a couple hundred bucks. :(

Isn't CC one of your Grails...? :001_ssad:

That was exactly it. I also sold off a very nice DK Jr. that I restored. It was a long agonizing process that started with a nearly free Vs. RBI Baseball in a blue DK cab. Ended up sanded down, painted orange and converted over. My first major project. Turned out pretty well. Would have been nice to be able to keep it.

I did not buy a Medieval Madness pin when I could've picked it up for 2k....enough said.

Ya see, for me I couldn't drop 2k on ANY pin. But I don't have any yet and that's just where I see the value in them, personally.

Again, a World Cup Soccer 94 is by grail. And those top out at $1500 I believe...? It'd likely be the one and only for me. :p

No regrets yet, although I did waste a bit of time fussing about with Mame when I first started, which didn't work out for me.

I wish I had more space, but I can't say that I'd want any other games more than the ones that I have now.

I regret paying any sort of cash for my recent Terminator 2 purchase. I just discovered the cabinet is full of mold and mildew. UGH!!!!

I have a Food Fight that I had shipped from Queens NY to Irvine CA that my good buddy Justin who lives only an hour from the seller griped that it wasn't close enough for him to go get.

X-Wife

Sold my Star Wars pinball, Indiana Jones pinball, TRON COCKTAIL and Donkey Kong cocktail to buy an engagement ring for my X-WIFE! Everytime I looked at that ring my heart ached. Now I'm just paying alimony and my games are long gone. Expensive lesson, but lesson learned.

In 1991, I went to look at two games for sale locally. I arrived only to find out they were XY games and at that time XY games were considered junk. So even at the $50 price for each I passed. One was a dedicated Space Duel and the other was a Major Havoc conversion. Even to this day I wish I had bought them!

Selling off my first three arcade games a few years ago, and going on hiatus from owning any games. Nothing too special, other than my old PC10 had games in it, and I had a Street Fighter II.

Another one. It's simple, but still kind of a regret.

One of the first things I did on KLOV was sell a Tetris JAMMA board. I like Tetris. I just wasn't thinking at the time

A few weeks ago a Super Mario Mushroom World pin came up for sale at a good price but unfortunately I did not have the funds...being broke sucks...
